On the Earth gamemode, a new player joins once every 40 mins or so while I'm playing. They always play for 3 mins or so then leave. Sometimes they're nostalgia tourists (term coined by theadminking), sometimes they're geniunely new players. Here are reasons why I think that they don't stay:

1. The /rtp a.k.a. /wild problem.
When you do /wild, there's like a 70% chance that you get sent to Antarctica or the arctic. This is because the command makes sure to send you to a place with low player activity. New players do /wild then they get sent to a place with nothing but snow, strays (the skeletons with slowness arrows) and the occasional rabbit. There's no trees so you can't play. They don't have the patience to wait 2 mins for /wild to cooldown to try again, so they just leave.
Yes, you could do /shop and buy wood but new players don't know this plus they don't want to play in Antarctica anyways.
2. Server is lonely (this ties to reason #3).
If they say "Hi" then I say nothing in response then they leave in 2 mins but if I say "Hi" back then they stay for a good 5 mins. But they're on their own in a survival world which is essentially singleplayer and people don't like singleplayer so they leave.
3. Their minds are rotted by tiktok and roblox (lol).
Mineverse is still the same since it was in 2014, nothing has happened to make it worse. People stopped playing because they changed and the world changed. Mineverse is still great, I like Mineverse. New games are a ton more rewarding now though so there's less of a reason to play Earth over something like Hypixel or roblox gacha games. Casual games are a lot more coded in playing with friends now too like popular casual games on Steam are REPO, lethal company, peak, etc. etc.. They'd rather g**n or something than play some normal minecraft idk
4. They are looking for the parkour server
"It said on the server list website that this server had parkour."
5. Just nostalgia buddies
Most of them return to see their old memory for a couple minutes.
6. No Youtubers
Nobody is making popular youtube videos about this server, which makes people want to keep playing on the server because I guess it feels more substantial or something if you play on a server that also has youtube content
7. The gameplay loop.
The gameplay loop of the server is like this: You start off with already having items and it's super easy to play on this server with little difficulty, you have things like /shop to buy anything you need, you have warps to exp farms, you have /home, you can keep monster spawners, etc.. It's basically Minecraft on casual mode. I guess not everyone wants to play this (as opposed to vanilla or something), but I personally like it. Then the daily gameplay loop is doing quests everyday so you can increase your claim size, while also building stuff like expansions to your base and farms. The quests have grown on me a lot, I used to be a bit annoyed by them but now I like them. I can see why some people might not want to do this I guess.
