It has happened to me many times. They just get upset because maybe it is a friend or someone they know reporting them. Happened to me twice.
Why should players be able to comment on reports? When they were enabled there was a lot of interfering with reports and there's really no point in commenting because it was against the rules to comment on reports unless you're adding evidence.
They were made private at the time to stop users from commenting mainly, but also to stop players from being bullied for reporting. Both the reports and the reports archives were made private. When I came back to being staff after a few months off, users were calling mods lazy and saying disrespectful things about the staff "not doing anything". So I asked that we let users see the archives. This way users could see just how many reports we do daily and see who is handling reports. Honestly at that time when I came back there was a massive issue with essentials causing staff to not be able to ban players. It was horrible, and the staff was getting no guidence on what to do. So they just let the reports sit. There were over 7 pages of sitting reports when I was promoted. I went to work and with some help we cleared them out that day. Later that month Cyp was able to add a new punishment plugin and the problem was solved for good. Since then the archives have stayed public. As for the permissions here on forums there is only one other thing we could do. Users have permission to comment on reports or not. There is no way to stop a user from commenting on another users thread without making that section private. So, we could make the report section public but then restrict comments from members. That comes along with its own set of problems tho. For example if you make a report and you forget to post your proof, once the report is posted you will not be able to comment on it and post it there. Another problem is that staff wouldn't be able to speak to you about the report or ask questions as you wouldn't be able to comment a reply. This is how Minetime has their report section set up. It seems to work there for them. Anyway that was a long bunch of jabble. Sorry. Hope it helped tho. lol
Mods are allowed to comment. How do you think they archive the thread? As long as they are on topic they can comment other than archiving.
