The current rule 7 states: don't spam. According to an unnamed moderator, the bold part is the rule, the unbolded is clarification of the rule. My suggestion is to update rule 7's clarification to say that mass reactions is spam, or to add an extra rule that mass reactions is against the rules. ---- Here is some reasoning. I was recently warned for the following: and my reply that mass reactions was not explicitly stated in the rules, and I was not disobeying starboard rules (since I was not reacting to my own messages, and I thought that the messages I was reacting to was part of a funny and star-worthy conversation). An unnamed moderator countered with the following, stating rule 7. and the fact that . Clearly, it is safe to assume that I do not have common sense (which isnt a requirement for the server). Spam is defined as unsolicited messages sent a large number of times (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/spam). Reactions are not messages, and thus I believe that the mv discord server should clarify their definition of spam, or to post a separate rule for mass reactions. Many servers do not classify reaction spam as the same as message spam. Note that earrape is not usually considered spam, but minverse has clarified that earrape is spam within the discord server, and this is what should happen for reactions too. ps, I'm not complaining about my warn, I'm complaining about the lack of transparency in the rules, and I am looking out for people who get banned for unclear rules.
These messages should make it so clear why it's such a meme that you make this suggestion. I already explained why the rules haven't been updated (can't be edited, so they'd have to be resent) and that it's self-explanatory not to abuse it. The ingame rules don't say duping or explointing glitches can result in perm bans, though they do. Either way I'll list my reasonings again: • "Don't spam" is in the #rules • "Read channel descriptions" is in the #rules • The channel has both a channel description and a pinned message saying not to abuse the system • It's common sense • You got a warning so you're now 100% aware it's against our rules and unlike many others, this is not the first time you're playing around trying to exploit things. You've even been told to stop spamming reactions before and I've used tatsumaki to prune your mass reaction spam. In essence; you're well aware we consider it spam Anyway yes I'll be adding it to the rules whenever we resend the #rules next as we have other things we'd like to add that we also enforce such as illegal trading. Anyway this won't be changed anytime soon as Janice is away. Closing.
