Tropics | Infection Map Submission IGN/Team Name: Builders: robosmith10 (plot owner & project manager), popthingi100, amlii, diggydigss & nolifemcgee . Minor help from: Redroyalle, Quertiss, GIYU & TorchwoodRC. Map Name: Tropics Gamemode for Map: Infection Description of Map: Background Info: After being on Infection for almost 6 years, Many others & I have realized what makes a map enjoyable. Most of the original maps are praised for their greatness because of their simplicity. Detailed builds are great but they should not take away from the actual experience. Maps like Rust & Nether are very simple maps yet they are some of the most beloved. Our team of 8 players has decided to create a map that sticks true to how the old maps were built, with wide open areas for the zombies to run and also combined it with some aspects of the newer maps (detailed caves etc). This map is balanced but leaning towards more zombie-based as we do not believe that matches should end with many survivors remaining. This helps reduce boredom from humans just camping and causes intense fights between the humans and the zombies. We have made sure to not include any "op spots" where a single human can kill many zombies by himself. Infection suffers from human based maps where humans can camp by doing parkours such as the map 'Argentan' where humans camp on top of the helicopter by doing the parkour and no zombies can reach them as they are shot down while doing the parkour. We have decided not to include any complicated parkour in this map to make it easier on the zombies. There are no spots where zombies can not reach the humans and the wide open area under the trees insures that zombies catch up to any humans on the ground. Map Information: This map, named 'Tropics' takes place in a tropical island where there are palm trees, caves, cliffs and even a shipwreck. It has been a long time since jungle wood has been used on infection maps since 'Jungle' map and this map may remind some of the old 'Jungle' map. For balancing purposes, not all of the massive trees are able to be climbed on to make sure the zombies do not have a hard time infecting the humans. The cliff may be used as a last stand for some humans who have been knocked out of the palm trees but can easily be overrun with enough zombies. There is also another small island located near the main one which is easy to access for both humans and zombies. The spawn point of this map is a small hut likely built by the survivors of the shipwreck which can be found near the cliff. Recording: Sample screenshot of some of the map: Other extra info: You can /plot visit robosmith10 on the Creative server to view this map for yourself and all feedback is appreciated. This map is for the September map competition. Thank you! EDIT: Since Noobcrew enabled barriers again, they have been added all around the map to combat players who camp in the ocean. We have spent many hours placing bedrock by hand on the bottom of the ocean as worldedit does not permit it, as an extra precaution against campers so if bedrock damage is ever disabled, the barriers will stop any players attempting to camp in the ocean. It has also taken us a lot of time to place ice blocks and break them in survival to create the whole ocean so any feedback is appreciated! Thanks!
Support, looks like a nice map when i visited it in-game, everything seems well built and not to unfair for either side overall.
Plain, simple and gives me nostalgia for the old Jungle map. Glad you didn't try to replicate the King of All Tree-camping Maps. The bit with the island looks likes a good camping spot but I think it's balanced enough that humans won't always win. I also hope that humans can't get boosted over the place with cobwebs underground. Good luck.
