(I'm hoping people can relate to this thread as best as possible, if you think some of the information I did mention was "more rude then explanatory" then please let me know! I am open to any and all comments) Lately scrolling through the excess of moderator applications, I come across the common people who tend to "suck up" in hopes of increasing their chance of making staff. Although its not all the time it happens, it happens frequently enough for me to make a thread for it. You'll notice some people tend to suck up to Mod's which can be very annoying (I know multiple people who agree). Some people fail to realize that sucking up is very detectable and may decrease your chances of doing what you intend to do. Be mindful, try to be resourceful, not a suck up. When it comes time for someone to explain to the author of that thread that the application was more of a "suck up then an actual application" it may seem rude to begin with but after reading the application, you'll definitely see it. Some people are totally correct when they say "It becomes an argument when people don't get what they want to hear." If anyone takes their time to comment anything on anyone's application its either to: - Give support (people love support, I mean who doesn't xD) - neutral - No support - No support (with a given reason for their choice) There is a thin line between constructive criticism and being plain rude and half the time when I see "well-known members" or "active members" comment on applications, its to give advice on what to do to improve an application and ways to not make it objective towards the author. Its kind of annoying when members choose to disregard helpful comments to improve the application. The advice goes to waste and its sad. People do it to help people and surely not to reprimand people in hopes of being the bad guy. The main idea I am trying to get across in this thread is: - Please don't be a suck up. It turns the minds of many people and makes you seem more desperate then you may want to be. Plus it makes the comments a little bit more harsh. - When someone is giving constructive criticism, please be open minded. People comment things for a reason and trust me, its almost always never to be the bad guy and to make you feel terrible. Their main goal is to help you. - PLEASE (and I can't stress this as much as I am trying) take into consideration the things people say. This community has very good ideas and some of them can help you in the long run. Guys let me know what your thoughts were on this thread, anything you say will be taken into consideration and will definitely be used for future references!!!
