I want to make this short and to the point.

I believe Mineverse needs more staff members. There honestly isn't enough and I think a lot of people would agree with me about this. Sometimes when I'm on I will do /staff and I'll notice there are either 1 or 2 mods on or sometimes none at all! That can not happen especially in a server that is as popular as mineverse is.

Along with not having as much staff on in-game there aren't as much on forums either, I know friends and players who tell me daily that they report offenders in-game or even, "On Forums." and they don't get their report looked at and the offender dealt with until much much later. 5-6 hours later? Sometimes a whole day later.
The reasons for all of this? Not enough Staff.

Anyone else agree with this statement?

We do need more staff, but the problem is looking for them. How many good apps do you see in the Mod section? How can you know if they're going to be trustworthy, going to handle the job,or going to abuse their powers?Honestly we have alot good staff already dealing with alot of the server problems.I called a mod on to ban 2 hackers, and they were patient enough to go through several games to ban them.
There's also something called a timezone.I rarely see only 2 moderators online (Southeast US)unless it's the very early morning or very late at night.
This is true, but pointing the reason behind this as not enough staff...There's 7-10 at it's peak.If you look at how many reports are done in a day it looks like that not alot really are reported.I miss Inefable with his report hogging.
EDIT:Ok,a staff member just banned a guy I reported in a couple minutes.I haven't waited for an hour for alot of my reports to go through. So I guess this argument is a bit untrue.Just my opinion I guess.

I agree with this, mods usually played on the server much more before they receive the position and what not. But, I feel like their activity is minimized because of the stress in this position and the insane workload that they have to do such as reports, handling chat, etc.. I feel like the people that are chosen for this position are people who are used to this kind of thing because of school etc..

Promotions will come when Cyp feels like promoting some, there is really no rush. These threads don't boost the amount of staff, and there are definitely a good bunch of these threads.

I honestly think that if Cyp promoted 10+ mods at the same time and promoting mods that play on a variety of different game modes and could be consistently active on that 1-2 gamemodes it would decrease the amount of stress put on moderators, especially when they have 4-5 people asking them questions and -messaging about hackers and watching chat. Mineverse needs at least 20 mods that are VERY active in-game. But thats just my opinion.

With saying what I did, I don't disagree with the statement at hand, I am well aware with the lack in staff activity, specifically from my time-zone, due to there being a minimal amount from Europe, and around the general GMT region.

      More mods, more mods.
Is that not what we've always complained about?
It's a complicated process, and there are trust issues.
Mineverse has never had a 'good' amount of staff to please us.

      • The moderators pick people they believe are qualified for the position
      • The head-moderators pick who they believe are ready
      • Then it goes to Cypriot
The only problem is, applications don't get too far.
Sure, you can say moderators aren't at their peak right now.
But you can't create hate threads like this; it doesn't help them.
We don't really need "more staff", but a staff member or two who are willing to handle the amount of reports and such that go on.
We need players that are actually as active as they said they would be.

Going onto this, because editing would make it unnoticed.
There is a training process for each new moderator.
When we have a bunch of promotions, they don't know what to do.
The mentor has to train them, teach them the ways.
If we keep piling on more and more new staff, how will they be trained efficiently?

Sorry you feel this is a hate thread, this is not a hate thread. This is just simply putting it into the air so everyone is aware the lack of staff we have in the server.

I know the application process is handled by cyp and he makes sure that the staff picked are good staff members and not someone who will abuse their powers.

I'm stating that right now we just have such a lack of staff that at some points during the day there are 0 staff online a long with 0 staff replying to reported offenders.

I agree with this but because of promoting 10+ applicants at once I would recommend they have another staff member watch and monitor the new mod to make sure he/she is capable of doing their job Appropriately and with maturity.

But the thing is, we've always had a lack of staff.
Even when we get into the upper 20's, it's "not enough" for 'us'
It may just be timezones, I know I see Tin, Dyna, Oliver, and Flazer on a lot when I get home from school, kudos to them.
Timezones is one of the main reasons people make threads like these.
I know a few moderators who pop on to quickly check the game modes, or even just handle reports.
It's really a time based thing; on whether they're able to help out.

      That's the training system.
They have it set up (from when I was moderator), that an older moderator would help out and guide the newer moderators, unless it changed.
Even so, the newer moderators might end up helping some of the older one's if they are good at it.

Time-zones in my own opinion is basically the downfall which causes threads like these. People on here don't quite realise that most of the team are still in school, and will not be active from most likely 8/9am - 4/5pm in whatever time-zone they are in. That's why the team is viewed as inactive.

If you come online at around midnight GMT, that's normally a prime time for moderators to come on, then onto 2-3am GMT.

Here is one part you are not thinking of: Training. How many experienced mods are open to 'mentor' the new ones? Even the recent waves it has been hard to regulate it all. Some people are expecting a number of new mods that would totally pass the amount of senior moderators we have now. Not everyone can train, there are requirements. We have learned to take it slow and train the moderators fully before getting a new batch. More complicated then most expect.

The application process is even more tedious. We run background checks in the promotion committee to look at the players' history, activity, and many other things. There is more than one person who deals with a promotion process. Honestly, most people don't appreciate what really happens.

      Tl;dr
We promote when needed and when things are ready. The team needs to be prepared for it.

That's also why staff of different time zones should be picked more fluently. So there is at least always a few staff members online at all times of the day.

And wait, am I insane or are there mods constantly active on the forums? People have school etc so access the forums because they may be on a device that does not support MC.

As an add-on to this, there are several moderators who also either resigns due to their stuff or gets demoted because of some <word> they did or something along those lines.

Just adding to this,it's odd were getting this thread after promoting 13 staff in a month and a half, and that's a huge number, especially in that time span.
