Well no they are quite worth it to me. Unlimited every kind of fish? Unlimited of a really cool block? Sounds awesome to me. And what about elder guardians do they spawn?

 

Wppl this post wasnt made to talk about farming, its about why they are possibly disabled, or whats with the server.

 

I don't think they are disabled. Its more of finding the exact chunk a temple would be in, meaning a chunk in a deep ocean or rarely a desert. Also it is harder to find a temple in single player that was updated from 1.7.10 to 1.8.x. Just my 2¢

Exactly, but I wanna double check, you would think by now someone would have some if they were enabled.

 

How it works is that a 59x17x59 area is randomly selected with the center point being in a deep ocean biome and from there a monument has a one in 80k chance of spawning and if it his that chance one will spawn and prevent any others from spawing within 250 blocks of it. I investigated the source code, and it is within that area I mentioned earlier that guardians can spawn, also saablade is correct, it is seed based not monument based. Hope that cleared it up :D

 

3 elder guardians spawn upon the world generation regardless if there is water or not so yes they would have spawned but they would have fell into the void upon spawning so you can't farm elder guardians, you can farm the normal ones tho.

They won't spawn, the map is pre ocean temple which means the map won't support it I believe, if I'm wrong then correct me otherwise yes they will spawn, the seed has been announced if you wish to try and find one

 

Well thats why, I have...and Halex has told me that the chunks we are in should be able to support Gaudians. Once we are told by @CypriotMerks and @Noobcrew if they are disabled or not, we would 1) Look for a new place 2) Start building.

 

Hmm unfortunately my island is no where near the monument chunks :(

 

Any land that was generated after the server went to 1.8 will support guardians and any pre1.8 land as long as it was loaded for only 3 mins or less
