you know how we report chat offences with screenshots? Most of us know this leads to forging, or even people faking some screenshots. Well, this fixes the issue. /chatlog [Player] gives you a link that redirects to a website of what a player has said in the last two weeks. Of course, we'd need a chatlog website that's linked to a server plugin, logging every word that a player says. However, only staff are allowed to access and use this command, and for added security, you need an account to access the chat log website or system. That way, people cannot target or misuse a person's chatlog. FAQ Wouldn't this invade peoples privacy? Only the staff would be allowed to view the chatlog, and we can trust the staff, right? If you don't, then maybe don't break the rules nor release any personal information via /msg. An idea could be that a visit log could be implemented, showing who viewed what player. This would take some time to either find or code, and implement. Won't this just create a big hassle? Well trying to look at evidence trying to figure out if it's forged or not would be more of a hassle. The player would provide a screenshot and then staff would look at that players chatlog to find out if the screenshot is indeed valid. If not, the player is banned, and the reported person is not. Boom. Less arguments over ban appeals, less angry people, and a happier community. Yes, this will take some time to create and implement onto the server. However, this can save even MORE time on looking at a screenshots validity. What if people try to chat or spam a lot to cover the evidence? ctrl+f. (If you don't know what that is, look it up on Google ;p) We have a chat system that prevents spam, so that's crossed off. An idea could be that you can view a player's chatlog within a period of time. You can open up a chatlog in a day, a few days, a week, etc. also for all y'all insecure people who are going to not support this because they don't want their privates looked at:
seems like more work if the player chats a lot. Also how would this work if we are a lobby server? How would you know which server they are chatting on?
people could chat alot to get out of getting warned as the moderator would have to go through alot of messages and would be much more work.
Yeah, and I think that this would be too much work. Going through every single message... that would be tiring.
There could be an option to look on a server, like tabs to organise the chat ctrl+f a player can say what the offender said, such as "kys", and the staff member can do ctrl+f and search up the term we could even have a search bar so it's easier to find a phrase or word that the offender has said.
it'd be more work to handle a ban appeal for victim of screenshot forging, and unban them than to do this. It'd even be more work to find out if a screenshot is fake or not.
^^ It'd take 10 minutes or even more to handle an appeal and work with the player, especially if they're pissed off and such. ty for the support Herf
''O no I can't do ctrl-f'' ''Why can't I just look at a screenshot or a vid instead'' ''im gonna die from overstress'' Support. The chat log should also go back to to 2 weeks, since the report section says: Evidence over 2 weeks old used to report will also be considered void.
Support. It would literally take 2 or 5 minutes, doesn't harm anything. Get a proper argument if you're going to ''no support'' this suggestion.
I think the log should only contain the past 3 or 5 minutes of chat messages of a specified player, not 2 entire weeks. Tryharding players that are applying would /chatlog random people and search for reportable content that could easily be taken out of context
