but the think is that no one would know they are a secret mod because there in /v and they wouldent have a prefix?
That doesn't stop the endless Terrick admin comments. It won't happen, and hidden is a better word, secret changes the meaning. But no same thing, won't happen.
I do not know if this was said already in this thread, but here it goes: Maybe like a custom plugin could be created. Where mods can temporarily take out their Moderator rank tag (the one that says [Mod] in in-game chat.) If non-staff members do /list they shouldn't be able to see the Mod tag. Then they could possibly /nick and they can be able change their username. So they can like "secret moderators." But hey, its just a thought...
There are two perspectives to this based on experience. The players are like: This is a great idea! Hackers will be caught and no one will be the wiser! The staff (and *ahem* veteran staff) are like: This idea isn't the greatest, because giving players whom we don't know if we can trust permission to a command that hides all traces of them from regular players, thus allowing abuse freely, might not be the most genius option. Besides, you can't apply for it, that would give it away, and the people who would be accepted would tell a friend (they all will, it's human nature) and it would spread. tl;dr, problems.
How do you know there isn't already secret mods, but you've just surfaced the idea of it to the people?
How bout a pm to a mod or scofu to nominate someone secretly for secret mod no prefix would be given just the commands when banning just sign off as -Secret Mod the nominated person would be notified by a mod and will be asked for his/her plus and minus side; a secret law enforcer would be good no one would know no one will know
The server can't exactly trust someone random. That would cause tons of abuse and basically break the server... Thanks for the suggestion though! :P
I think this would cause mods to be more abusive and get away with it. :/ it would help with hackers, but wouldn't recording and reporting be just as effective?
This is a good idea, if there was no possible way for the secret to get out Pretend I got accepted as a secret mod, I see a guy named "FredrickPeterson923" Fly hacking. I do /ban FredrickPeterson923 Fly hacks. Appeal at Mineverse.com ~Sky Now Fredrick would know I was a mod. No support, sorry
Now instead of saying your name, you could just say secret mod. Ex. Hacking appeal at mineverse.com ~secret staff Instead of: Hacking, appeal at mineverse.com ~Sav I've always wanted to say that :t:
I have no Idea what I'm going to say about this. We could make a selection for secret / hidden Mod's but my suggestion is will people see this on our forum on the staff list? They will know if we get promoted or if we are on.. Will ./list show us? Will they know who is promoted for it? Are the secret Mod's only looking for hacker's ? Are they helping if someone need help. Should they pm them or how? They can't really answer in chat, beacuse then everyone know. This could be good to catching hacker's but if you're asking me I would say a Mod should help show him self in chat if everyone need it. 50 % support on no. 50 % support on yes. This is my option. - Van.
Staff and secret staff could be two different groups. The secret staff wouldn't have forum promotion, and would still receive bans from posting on reports, ban appeals, etc. After all, there has to be a way to keep the secret safe. The moderators would know who the secret staff are too. If the mods got demoted and told anyone, they could be banned (forum and in-game). This would cause some chaos, yes, but sometimes we have to take risks to see how it will end up. Also, the secret staff would just sign a random staff member's name when they ban a player. :P Hope I helped, feel free to give me feedback on this idea ^:>
Support all the commands they will have is /fly And they will be invis until, hey resign and they can do everything else they would stay in /v because they will say ey are hacked and they will have to say they are a secret mod
