Screensharing Introduction: Hello mineverse community, today I am going to suggest a moderating act dealing with cheaters. This is called screensharing, it is usually found in HCF (Hardcore Factions) servers. What it is? Well, basically when a moderator finds a cheater/hacker he will ask him to go on TeamSpeak3 and go to a special room where the cheater and the moderator can proceed to screensharing the person. If they log out, they get banned. Moderator suspects a cheater and messages him to get on TeamSpeak3 to a special room, usually called “Support Room #1, #2", so on and so forth. When the moderator and the player in on the same channel and are able to talk, they should download an app called join.me to proceed to screenshare. Photo: http://prntscr.com/9llcww 3. When player is done downloading and opening, they should receive a link (the one i covered in the box) and paste it on the chat, which will be used for the staff to proceed to screensharing. Photo: http://prntscr.com/9llepg 4. The staff will go over through his .minecraft to check if there is any unfair modifications to the minecraft clients the player is using. 5. If the player cheats, he gets banned. If he doesn’t, he doesn’t get banned, it’s straight forward. Why this might be useful: This will reduce the false bans by a lot, because I have known some good players who got banned unfairly. This might add more work to the staff, but I believe this is very useful Thanks for reading, please leave your opinions down in the comments and do the poll.
The player can just turn his hacks off until we connect lol.. Also why would someone let me see his files?
No support. This confuses me, and seems like a lot of unnessecary work. Our current system for dealing with hackers is fine.
Stop trying to turn mineverse into some HCF tryhard server, I doubt any of the mods here use VPNs, I guess you want all of our mods being booted off, ffs.
There are several things wrong here. I respect the privacy of ones files. I would not feel right snooping just to prove someone hacked or not. People are allowed clients on other servers. People play more than one server a lot. I myself have about 6-7 hacked clients in my .minecraft folder, does that mean i used hacks on that day? How can you prove it was used on mv itself? snoop more into the persons log files? No, that is not right. This is just adding an extra step to the process. We see hacks, record, ban. Then add this process of screenshare instead of the person appealing the ban? No use. And what about timezones? and those mods that dont use teamspeak? We cant force them to. They have rights to not use the program. Absolutely no support. I will not be part of any activity where I have to snoop in players files.
what.. I said that so someone else's comment. sorry if you thought I was talking about this suggestion :p (a moderator edited my comment to remove what the other person said) I don't support this suggestion though.
No support. People could easily turn off/delete their hacks. I respect the privacy of players Someone may have not hacked on Mineverse but still have hacks downloaded, which will lead to an unfair ban.
No support. What if players refused to be checked? Would they be banned? What if they didn't have Skype? Their are way too many flaws in this.
Well, they are not allowed to log out while getting screenshared. it's just their .minecraft, it's not going through their whole files.
