    Hi,

Could someone with server/Minecraft knowledge just clarify some things. After making a 5 chunk slime farm over my island i noticed some rules about slime's that might help/hinder my farms. It seems they only spawn if i am at a certain distance, but not too far. and secondly they just stand still inactive until i am within a chunk of the slime chunk at which point they suddenly jump into action. Iron golems dont seem to get them busy when i'm at the other side of the island - it must be a player.

    My questions are:
What are the distances i must be between for slimes to spawn?
What is happening with them being inactive? and is there any way to overcome this?

    Thanks for your time.

At least 24 away to spawn but within 32 to move.
This may be changed due to plugins on the server reducing mob movement to try to cut down on lag

The distance to move seems to be about 1 chunk - the plugins must be messing with it

I know when I had my mob grinder, all the mobs moved. Although it was only about 1 pathfind per 10 seconds. What did help is when they agroed on a player they kept pathfinding.

If nothing works you may needed to resort to a water flushing system. This will work for you, because it doesn't rely on mob AI to function.
