It's simple, just google "Minecraft EULA" and you get this. https://account.mojang.com/documents/minecraft_eula I'm not sure that that's 100% accurate, since it says in the EULA,
I have just done some nerding out about there document and it also says that you can't distribute modpacks. You can only make modpacks yourself and cant let anyone else use them. You also cant advertise Minecraft.
http://www.minecraftforum.net/news/59832-new-eula-now-in-effect Well, after I found this...How the hell does MV still exist?I couldn't find the article on Notch stating his dislike, but this was the most I could find. Can I sell boosters, which provide faster gold gain, XP, or other in-game resources for hard currency? No – boosters, item generators, and all other features that affect gameplay are not allowed. Can I charge for access to server commands? Yes, as long as their effects are purely cosmetic. Commands that affect gameplay, such as a command to fly, cannot be sold for hard currency. My server features a currency that you can earn through gameplay, but which can also be bought for hard currency. Is that OK? Soft currencies that are earned in-game are fine, but you cannot sell in-game currency for hard currency. Hybrid/dual currency systems are not allowed.

I believe we can trust reddit? I mean, it's a 50 50 chance if it's true or not true, but no more incomes or anything would be bad for the server.
Oh and btw, if Minecraft really is doing this, then they are in for a huge profit loss. Heres why Youtubers usually have ranks, this encourages people to play servers. People play multiplayer mostly, and a lot have ranks Zero motivation to get ranks = no money = won't play that server 0 money = 0 servers 0 servers = no minecraft no minecraft = no profit Of course, there will be the occasional lil kids who play single player.
