I'd say 3 for an entire day would be enough.

 

I know. I like them too.
Removing them would make so many problems disappear and I think that is better than being able to express ourselves in little meaningless pictures.

 

Yea I agree, there are too many. There should be only one simple like button...

 

@Ninja The most common rate abuse now is done by the like button so removing every rating except the like button won't change much.

 

then ban the people that are abusing. If you abuse, get banned. I don't care if you are "special" and been here for a long time. Break the rules and suffer the consequences.

 

Way to miss the entire point of the thread.

 

Still pondering of how someone else can have the name "KickButt_" then be warned to change his name or he'll be banned, but the name "Pile_of_Butts" can have a much more graphic meaning to it's name and nothing happens.

The part of the player having popularity and being active, should be removed. As it is not necessary whatsoever. It can make another player feel bad, or that you're choosing that particular person over another. Pile, I love you, and I think you're an amazing person, but I have seen you favorite someone, over another person. I may be wrong, but if I'm not, take it into consideration.

And as to the thread, I agree with the 3 ratings.

All the "rate abuse" rule does is create controversy and disagreement. Go look on other MC forums as a prime example as to how ratings should be properly handled. They either don't have a rule on ratings at all, and or have less rating options in place.
All the Mods locked their profiles relating to "rate abuse," everyone on here fears of getting banned just for rating over a specific set number of posts, etc. All of this just so you can prevent someone getting a meaningless virtual rank such as "Experienced Member." Lol.

 

You want freedom of rates?

If they meant so little to you why do you specifically give your friends so much?
You do it for them to get trophies and move up in the forum ranks.
You do it so that they know you liked their post.
You do it because you like to give ratings and make your friends happy.

Make fun all you want but you rate just as much as the next person. You actually do it a lot.
Ratings will not be removed. This thread was created to better clarify what you, the members felt was rate abuse and to help clarify it in the rules so that others will not be warned for breaking rules they didn't know they were breaking.

 

Yes, because getting "Experienced Member" is what all my friends and I want in life.

I don't rate with intentions. I rate something if I want to. If I like one of my friends post, then I like it. I don't sit and dwell over forums ratings, and contemplate on who I should and shouldn't rate. It's something I don't really think about, considering this is just a MC forums afterall. If I like one my friends posts, then I like them. If not, then I don't.
Just like every other forums out there, I don't dwell and sulk over virtual ratings. Know why? It's meaningless. Yet only on here it's an exception. Now everyone on here has to fear of getting kicked from the site just for virtually rating someone over three times. All because you want to prevent people from getting meaningless trophies and ranks. That's why this rule is unpopular and has created nothing but problems.
