Keep trying on the voting... there are many problems with the website on which the voting happens so it is so easy to lose votes frequently. I cannot tell you how many times I've been kicked out of the running. Yeah too many details... BTW hint: the server that does the voting uses UTC 0:00 as the start of the new day. So if your time zone undergoes day light saving adjustments, then that will alter when you need to vote.
That explains why its a hour different, I tried winning December - February which is before daylight savings. That makes a lot of sense now. I've never had problems with the site and I'm not gonna try to win again. I'm going off the college and don't want to take a rank from someone who's going to actually use it.
Cool! Good luck! Sometimes it is just all luck. But yes, the voting website has serious problems at times and it is very common that you may vote one day and that vote may never make it to MineVerse. I've seen this numerous times when their servers go down... they let you vote, but the votes get "lost" and you are out of the running for that month. That has happened to me many of times too. I've voted but never get the credit on MineVerse. So the "vote" got lost in transit somewhere, but yet the voting website prevents you from voting again. That's just one problem I've noticed with voting. There are others fails, but that one can mess up the voting for dozens of people. A good "sign" of when it happens is if you see a lot of people hit the top 10 daily then all of a sudden there are only 2 or 3 showing up on the top 10 even a few hours after the new vote day. This fail happens at least once per month. I suspect one of their servers goes down right at the new vote day or something like that?
I wouldn't be surprised if it goes down around that time everyday because not only people from mineverse are getting their votes in at that time, but also people from multiple different servers vote at that time too, this is probably a problem that no one here can fix. To bring it back to my point in the rant, I think they should change the way the pick the top 5 if more than 5 people got max votes. It could be picking 5 random people from the pool of people who got maximum votes.
Thanks for tagging my thread under Survival. I appreciate that. Because tl;dr, I read the part that caught my attention (as always). Staff. Here's my personal opinion. Ok, let's start off on the good side. Let me just clear any hazy areas here and just mention that there are a choice few who are really hardworking in the staff team. These are the people who have dedication to the server, whom I really honestly respect for their work. These are the people who update their ban logs regularly, take the initiative to look out for hackers, and participate in meetings as much as they can. The problem is "staff" is just referred to as "staff" as a whole, while we forget that there are individual people in that "staff" team. As in any community, there are the good and the not so good. Well, those have lost steam. Some of those them who have lost steam just decided to resign, which I actually respect, because they've realised it and they move on. Some of them lost steam, and linger on in the team, which I do not respect, personally, because to me, they are simply riding along without doing much in terms of activity, ban logs, etc. And you can say all you want, but I was a Moderator before, and I did feel a little disgusted about some whom had ban logs which did not have anything recent in them for a good 2 months or so, and seemed to have no "fire" being thrown at them for riding along and maintaining the title. So I do respect those whom I feel have contributed a lot, and have honest dedication. I feel disgust and disapproval to those whom I feel have ridden/are riding on the team's achievements and even though they were/are now "unknown" moderators You know who I'm referring to (past and present), they still choose to hang on to the title. This is just like in every community, in every neighbourhood. You certainly do like some people who leave good impressions on you, and vice versa.
I am not going to target anyone, but the staff just really aren't doing their complete job. DO NOT get me wrong, some staff are AMAZING. I recently found that staff that have not been on in 19+ days were removed. (Somewhere around that). There was one staff in particular that really stood out in a bad way. I logged on to Prison, and saw a mod just sitting there in front of TWO people with one a dia sword, and two a bow. The staff said was looking at them, and talking to them, yet they were BOTH not jailed. This was shocking to me because many mods here are amazing. For example, I recently reported someone, and was ver impatient to see the results. @Charisa replied in under five minuted. This is amazing work and I admire it. Thank you @Charisa . EDIT: Sorry for spelling errors, typed this on my phone... :(
Yup, there are some who are really amazing, and it's good that they are/were getting the appreciation they deserved to get. There are also some who got away just fine by not doing any ban logs and were pretty inactive for around 2 months+.
I gotta say, this is a pretty accurate and amazing rant. I agree with literally everything you have stated. But not all things are fixable, well only with dedication and a bunch of money.
I'm not calling anyone out but when you have a medium sized server, yet none of the staff you promote are active, you end up with a huge mess. Yes, staff are online, but not when most people are on. Also they usually favor the bigger gamemodes, such as KitPvP2 and OpPvP, rather than Skyblock or Survival. IMO, the staff are really inactive.
Teeeb is correct and case in point Skyblock has been down all day and noone has responded to any support emails or online forums. It's time to start caring again like they used to. Also just went to survival and silk touch for spawners doesn't work AGAIN. last time we were told it was an oversight. How about doing some routine checks when you make changes?
OwO This is a long rant... even worse, I think I could help make it longer. Note: I don't feel like quoting each part, so to those that bother to read this reply, my response is the bold red text beneath each section in the quoted piece below. Also, same Disclosure for my responses as that of the original rant. Lol I doubt more than 3 people will bother reading this. Why am I writing this lololol More importantly, whoever you are, why are you reading this? (Thanks for you time though!) I'll add my response to part two below... #Character Max. (Please ignore the double triple post for this one... Quote 1; Part 2 ... Strike that too... 4 posts needed. Rip This was longer than I thought it'd be............ Thanks to anyone that actually read this. Edit: I just checked; it really is uneven xD Please fix this.
I just read this all, nice feedback. I started off the rant by actually ranting then I slowly transitioned into just listing suggestions. I agree with most of the stuff said and thanks for actually reading it xD.
I actually love this thread. I find that some mods dont even come on some gamemodes...shocking. I find this weird because as a mod, you are supposed to be equally active on all gamemodes. (why I deleted my mod app). Can I also add the fact that in the requirment section, there should be "Be active on all gamemodes." "Report at least ** players." and even "get to know the community." These are litterally the most common things people say to others on Mod Apps.
I'm not defending anyone. There are cases in which staff are biased towards their friends but let's face it we're all human. (Overused excuse I know). We naturally favor people that we know and care about whether it's intentional or not. Some are better than others at this but it's not always their own fault. However this is one of the things that gets worked on more while a moderator is still in their "training phase". It is one of the things that needs to be/gets checked on every so often during someone's time as staff. If you show bias towards people the staff managers will most likely have a conversation with you and warn you to watch out for it. This is just not true at all. Every applicant that gets accepted is "background checked". The staff managers look into their history, maybe get opinions from the staff about past experiences. They don't just promote anyone and everyone because they're popular. There's more behind the scenes stuff that players don't realize. While these "Elites" may appear to get accepted more often, it's not because of their popularity status. When someone gets a lot of positive feedback on their application of course it's going to stand out, but it will not determine whether or not they are promoted.
