OP-PvP is glitched, like the rest of Mv but worse probs, everyone who logs in are getting reset and people lose all their /bal, pv stuff, echest everything, this happened before late 2016 and it's back so @Matt
Quite dumb tbh, server restarts everyday at 11am GMT +0:00 time so they can create a backup n they won't use it? What's the point in backups if not used for glitches like this?
True, hence why over 200+ have left in over a year, quite shocking, many more will quit after this if a rollback isn't introduced into OP.
We are in the process of implementing a backup solution. Because our gamemodes have been around for so long they are 100s or even 1000s of GBs of data. It is hard to backup and store that much data efficiently. In the past there was no backups, or at least very little. I'll talk to Bman and see if we can work out some compensation. It's hard because we can't know exactly who lost what and how much :(
I'll tell you exactly what I lost. 3 accounts with /pv1 full of sets, pv2 on my main half full of s30s and 9 stacks of gaps, 3.1k in total spread between 3 accounts, inventories w/ 6 sets, 1 and a half stack of gaps, s30, maxed bow, 5 speed in each inventory, my mains echest was full of speed2, my 2 alts echests was full of sets. Compensate that?
the problem is that we have no idea if people are telling the truth. once we do it for one guy all ya'll bitches gonna be up in here lying n stuff for free items
Not really? Some people may lie yes, but some wont? Either way, MV's died enough as it is, at this rate it's going to end up worse.
Without a backup most of OP's players are gonna end up quitting, mainly people on baltop 1 throughout to 5. I'm not bothered about my stuff, I can easily farm, only thing I want back is my money lol.
As I recall, Matt said he will talk to xBMAN about "Some compensation", please do not comment unless you read the entire conversation previously and present.
As already stated by matt It's not dumb, it's simply not wanting people to gain items in an unfair way.
I'm going to be real here, and no disrespect intended to Matt and Bman, I appreciate what you guys do for the server. This issue is not one to be taken lightly, especially when OP PvP is one of the gamemodes that is really keeping this server alive right now. This is the second time that this glitch has happened in the past 2 years, and the first time it happened, I can tell you that I was very angry when I lost my stuff along with a bunch of other people; it gives a HUGE advantage to those who happen to not log in to those who got reset. This should have not happened again, and should have been completely fixed the first time. There is obviously something wrong with the actual OP PvP files, and it is going to happen again if this problem is not found. Also, I understand that the server itself is thousands of gigabytes big, but backup files are absolutely essential to run a server properly. What would happen if someone turned on the server and griefed it? With no backup files you are very screwed. Luckily that is not the issue we are faced with, but this issue is almost just as bad. There are unfortunately going to be huge consequences for this happening, including the losing players in our already declining player base. I really hope you guys find a way to rollback the server, but if that cannot happen then might as well start from scratch on that game mode, it would likely get rid of the issue in the player data, so it does not reset the server for a third time. Again, I'm not trying to be rude, and I'm sure you guys know way more than I do about the situation. I am just really disappointed that this has happened again and could potentially hurt the player base worse than it already was before this.
They fixed some of it, the people who DID get reset such as 5 of my alts have nothing, my main has everything still due to not being logged in, I was perm lobby banned when this happened the first time, it doesn't surprise me it's happened again, due to the fact rarely anything is done w/ MV anymore as it's became horrendously unpopular over the last few years, yes some people are tell me 'leave then' or something, I've been around MV since 2013, I've enjoyed it, I still do, with the amount of problems, I see past them, but it's becoming to the point people are losing their stuff everyday due to the glitchiness of MV, OP-PvP for example, a big glitch is being lagged into blocks, this isn't a "ping" thing, I get 84ms (5bars) which is good, and this happens, it even happens to people on 21ms, the server is falling that's all I can say.
