It’s been a while since this server crossed my mind, lucky that I even remember the password to this forums account. I was very active on it from around 2015-2017 and met a lot of people on here (to which I sadly lost in touch with every single person I met). Feels nice though that the server is still up, although a mere shadow of it’s old 2000 player self. I thought I’d write about some of the gamemodes I remember because honestly I did so much on this server and kind of do want to go back to those days where I committed so much time on minecraft as a whole. Infection I think this was the first gamemode I played on the server?? It was honestly so grindy and I remember all the ranks like cpsgt sgt etc and how you would get better gear to defend as you ranked up. I’m pretty sure there were prestiges too, but I don’t think I ever got them sadly. I do remember a few maps, like the netherrack one where you go up stairs with lava on the side as well as the 4 biomes map with lava dividing in the middle. Overall it was a really fun gamemode. OPPrison & Prison I never really got into the regular prison, all I can remember is running with no gear into the pvp zone hoping to steal some gear left behind from the stacked people fighting. OPPrison was a different story, I got so hooked onto it. I spent a lot of time on my own prison plot, building a nice little base with some itemframes to showcase the so called “rare items” like leather or steak which could only be obtained by glitching yourself out of the map and running across the flat land to kill mobs for them. OPPVP Probably my most played gamemode on this server. Classic OPPvp on the San Andreas minecraft map. You put me anywhere on that map right now and I will know exactly where I am. From that iron door house you can only open from the inside to the glass dome surrounding the map that you can easily pearl glitch out up. I loved how when you got to that bit of road where the club is, everything became a lot less chaotic and moreso organised. You would go there if you wanted to 1v1 other players. The /heal tactic was so big then as well where you would /heal the player you are fighting to remove their regen effects and kill them quickly as soon as their helmet pops. I think there were rare items there too like fishing rods but no idea how I got my hands on one GTA Absolutely loved this gamemode. It was basically just PvP FPS. You had your regular guns and what not but you also had 2 special guns which were (if i recall correctly) gunpowder and torches?? They were sort of the more powerful weapons and weirdly enough when you died you would keep them on you unlike the other regular guns. Some nice person did give me the torch but I do recall constantly begging everyone for the gunpowder because it was better. Sadly never got it. Creative One of my other favourite gamemodes + most played. So much time was spent in that making everything I could imagine. There was such a big social aspect to this gamemode as well, with there being skin competitons and roleplays. I think this is where I met most of my Mineverse friends as I remember someone teaching me to build slime rockets and another friend who had this massive military base plot which was honestly mesmerising to look at. I do wish to forget one memory about my time on creative though which was me typing out possibly the weirdest messages seen in this game, bypassing the swear filter with a mere underscore. Interestingly enough this gamemode also had rare items which were the god items that had every enchantment effects imaginable. I had so many stashes of these hanging around in chests and I was pretty proud of my collection. I do want to punch myself though because I did delete my original plot back in like 2017 because I wanted to maximise my plot count. I think I now have like 22 plots on creative which is the most that I’ve seen. Don’t know what in my 12 year old self saw that as a flex but I just wish I could see that plot again one more time because I put so much work into it. Skygrid Another absolute banger of a game. Basically just a entire map of individual blocks spaced out from each other. A lot of us treated the game more like factions though and would scour bases to raid and grief. It was honestly like a mini 2b2t where I would AFK with a paper weight in the nether to get to coords far away enough that I was confident that my base wouldn’t be found. There were claim sponges but they were completely useless. There were 2 main ways to pillage a base (and funnily enough, doing these things were bannable). The first was to kill players you would use a lava bucket, since pvp was disabled. The second method was a lot more interesting though. Chests usually were claimed by locking them with a sign making it impossible for outsiders to open and steal stuff. However there was one loophole with the plugin where you would use a hopper minecart + rail and push it under the chests and it would suck everything up for you to take. I admit I did that a lot and found it really fun to take all this loot back to my base (though it was definitely evil and I may or may not have been banned a few times by mods). Skyblock Very hazy memory, all I remember was all the warps and using this one warp where you would buy sugarcane from a player and then sell it in the shop which would give you profit. I also recall one of the best mob grinders I have ever seen in this game in one of these warps. That thing spat out mobs like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I tried to replicate it countless times but I never got it to work. Kitpvp 2 Never really liked kitpvp, all I remember is cheaters and depth strider players who would stomp you in any fight. Archer My memory is a bit hazy about this - was it it’s own gamemode because I swear it was. Though it was fun making massive teams with other players Bedwars To this day I will still stand my ground to say Hypixel stole Mineverse’s idea. I don’t remember much about Mineverse bedwars though. Factions & OPFactions This is where my memory is extremely hazy - did Mineverse have both variants of factions? Did it even have factions to begin with. All I remember is OPFactions but I could’ve sworn there was the regular kind too. About OPFactions it was pretty enjoyable like your usual factions experience back in the day. I remember messing up one time by accepting a random player’s tpa, and begging them to leave bribing them with money what not to never come back. But of course, it’s factions. Coming back next day and my base has developed a massive crater on one side. And that’s all the gamemodes I remember. I feel there is atleast one more that I have missed but I’m too tired to try and recall it so that’s all we have for now. Going through my past posts though had sparked a core memory for me which I also want to talk about My dreams to become a moderator Probably the dream of every young minecraft kid, to be a person of authority on a server they play on everyday. Going back on my forum posts will reveal to you the most horrendous moderator applications you have ever seen. The first one is a few words strung together basically just begging to give me moderator. I really show my capability to moderate the server to the community by crashing out at people in the replies. The second application tries to splash you with all the colours of the rainbow to distract you from the fact that this application is equally as bad. This was a time before chatgpt was a thing so my raw talent of writing can be seen in it’s full glory in that post. But it was never about how good the application was anyway. It was just about how many people wrote “support” to your post - how popular you were. I never got much support because people didn’t really know me, mostly because I decided it was time to moderate after like 4 months of playing the server and my timezone’s daytime is nighttime in the USA where a lot of the server was probably sleeping. But now looking at it, even if I was offered Moderator or even Admin on a silver plate now, there is no way in hell I would do unpaid labour. Not even like I can put it on my resume without it looking like a joke. “Moderation of a Minecraft community” - Moderated over 2000 players ensuring rules and legislation are always followed - Decreased serverwide rulebreaking by 30% - Spearheaded a new punishment system to reduce the likelihood of repeat offenders by 70% Conclusion Anyways that is everything I could take from my mind about this server. Typing this out did make me remember a lot more than I did right when I had the idea to revisit Mineverse. Makes me miss it more. Well this is the end and I’m probably going to completely forget about me doing this tomorrow morning, only for me to remember it a couple months or even years later (I’m sure the server will still be up then, idk why it’s even up now.. wheres the money to run it coming from??). Thank you Mineverse. - chuck.
