@KittyVonCatWorth made a suggestion on having a Vanilla gamemode, and people seemed to not understand anything. The logic behind their ideas was quite saddening, really. So I decided, I'll make a thread myself, with a FAQ eliminating all those reasons why it shouldn't be added. So, what is Semi-Vanilla Survival? Well, it's basically the survival we have now, but with some changes. Features No shop, as in no shop plugins. Having an unofficial shop is allowed, don't worry. No Spawn, you spawn in random places around the world. No claims. Yes, no claims. That means if your city gets covered in lava, it's time you thought about making Atlantis, deep in the ocean, hidden from potential griefers. No clans, as in no clan plugins. Of course you can have some towns or groups, but it won't really be official. There will be an anti-cheat. I was incredibly frustrated at how some people didn't think about this, and said how there would just be a great amount of hackers. Think this through - The developers are not dumb to not add an anti-cheat. Common-sense. This will be one of the only things making this semi-vanilla, along with the Essentials plugins and /ban, /mute, etc. Small enchants would be allowed, but no /enchant. No /feed or /heal, or /god. (Only staff will have /fly, and maybe /god but that's still something to be considered) Some other stuff, if you find one put it in your comment and I'll add it to this large block of points. FAQ Won't there be hackers polluting this, though? I bolded up one of the points for a reason. Spawn killing? Look at the points. Look at all of them. Would you have to pay for claims? I mentioned that there will be possible claims, and this is up to the devs to implement. If they do, paying for claims for a LOW price may be applicable, but people who leave the gamemode may be a bit upset at the fact that they didn't have enough space in their /echest. What if someone forgets to pay their claim? This is where the clever part comes in. You don't need to pay, just have the amount of money needed in your /bal, and the plugin will take away the desired amount needed. Won't there be lots of flaws? Towny had lots of flaws. The new Kitpvp had lots of flaws. The new Infection had lots of flaws. Most of them got fixed, however. This gamemode will be fixed as it gets implemented, and we might even have our very own beta team, like we did with Towny, and Skyblock or OPfactions. I'll add more FAQ's as this suggestion moves along. That's it for now, if you want some more explaining, ask and I'll answer. ~Reborn.
For those of you who do not know what Vanilla means, Vanilla minecraft is basically single player servers meaning there's Absolutely nothing no plugins what's so ever.
So...This is Semi-Vanilla then? Traditional Vanilla servers have 0 plugins at all. Giving mods more than what vanilla commands would give you is a bit too much such as /god or /v. They should be allowed to ban and mute, but that's about it. By enchant do you mean the command enchant or no enchanting items at all (such as taking away the ability to echant from enchantment tables)? If its the latter than this makes it even more Semi-Vanilla. Also, /Echest? or just ender chests in general? cause /Echest again makes it more Semi-Vanilla. Vanilla is meant to give no one a advantage even the staff themselves are limited to what they can and cannot do. Rules of course in vanilla are a bit sketchy since griefing would be allowed considering theres no way to prevent griefing in Vanilla unless you went Semi-Vanilla. Anti-cheat sadly makes the server Semi-Vanilla since plugins are non-existent in traditional vanilla servers. I'm a bit neutral on this idea.
Yeah the name is still a work in progress. To answer some of your ideas Ye it's semi-vanilla, changing name. As I said, work in progress. /god may be implemented, it may not. Like I said, enchanting is up to the devs to implement. /enchant will definitely not be added Like I said, the idea is still a WIP. The server can't be completely vanilla, that's daft. Of course we need anti-cheat and the Essentials plugin. If you want griefing allowed, I'll add that in. But it's majority rules, not everyone will be happy with the end result. EDIT: Changed the features up a bit, some feedback would be very much appreciated.
I'm just throwing out thoughts i had while reading the suggestion. I do support the idea, but it needs work of course. If this is to be Semi-Vanilla I'm okay with mods having /god and /fly as well as anti-cheat. Anything else is up to you, but try not to go overboard since we already have a survival game mode with plenty of commands, plugins and kits. Semi-Vanilla is more or less between being 0 plugins and having hundreds of plugins.
You just had to be quick with those nimble hands and post this right before I edited the original post cx
