I think you should need more messages to apply for moderator. I'm thinking 125 messages. It just bothers me when I see people apply for mod whenever they literally just met the requirements and started forums that same day. If the forum can't be changed with just a suggestion I think that if you're under the post count requirements for mod it should not allow you to post the thread (I have seen many mod apps that players have posted even when they're under the post count requirement.)
I'm sorry if I've misunderstood what you have said here, but do you mean they meet the requirements on the day they joined forums (due to reaching 50 posts in that one day)? Even if they do reach 50 posts in one day, they haven't met the requirements yet because they still need 2 weeks registered. Personally, I think 50 posts is a good starting point. If the applicant continues to keep their post count up by posting regularly and helping out after they have posted their application, I think it's fine.
This is a good idea. Support. Also, maybe we should do something about the two week wait. Change it to a month maybe? I'll make a suggestion for one month.
1 month on the forums I like the idea of, if the post count is higher people will still just post farm for it.

I think a month on forums and 200 messages, since even that many isn't enough for you to be recognisable, but it's better than 50.
