No support. The Mineverse Community still needs to accept the people becoming moderators, not just the staff. The general public of MV don't just flame for nothing. They mostly now have a concrete reason as to why they supported, no supported or had a neutral. Of course there will be people who randomly go around and rate others' posts dislike, etc. With no reason. This problem still has to be solved, but not with your suggestion/pink's. This suggestion, if implemented, will cause players who actually mean well to lose an opportunity to see who their future Moderator might be.
If the MV community doesn't approve of their Moderator, whats the point of just showing the app to staff who rarely go on the particular server itself?
Actually I disagree with this assessment. There are a lot of immature people in both the skyblock community and in the mineverse community in general. This is Minecraft after all so it isn't a mystery as to why some people act childish. I know of numerous players here who will hold a grudge against other players because they reported them in the past or spoke out against their behavior. I'm a "new member" to these forums, but I have already myself fallen prey to someone with a grudge trying to abuse the rating system. I also know of several other players that would likely hold a grudge against me for similar reasons. On Skyblock I publicly warned people about Ember333's behavior one day after him being accused of scamming several times in 1 week and for saying some rather nasty stuff in public chat in several flame wars. 6 hours after flaming me in private chat on skyblock he logged into the forums, stalked my profile so he could down rate my first comment here 10 days after the post and 6 days since the last post on said thread. It makes sense too if you think about it. Someone applying to be a mod likely has filed reports against players in the past, or warned players that what they are doing is illegal and against the rules. Naturally players that get punished will hold a grudge and would likely post a no support or give negative feedback on a mod application. Since the report threads are not open to the public, it wouldn't be as obvious to others and trying to explain such a situation is tedious and boils down to a he said she said flame war.
Well, you can tell easily by the tone of the person's statements whether he means business or not. I doubt Cyp will want to look at immature comments and think that they mean the truth. I still stand that the general public still need to approve of the person. Who knows if the person is just putting up a total opposite of himself/herself when doing the Mod App and changes when playing MV? The motion must fall! xD
Total and complete support. Maturity is the issue with this community. You have players of all ages. Some people can't differentiate between constructive criticism and destructive criticism. You may have someone post a mod application, but their application is bombarded with people who a)don't know them, b)don't want them to be a mod for personal reasons, or c)they're applying to become a mod themselves, and decide to not support for a selfish reason. Private applications get rid of all this. Just like ban appeals. Staff should be the only ones to see the applications, and @CypriotMerks then decides whom to promote. With everyone saying that players should judge who becomes a mod, that couldn't be further from whats needed if it were shot out of a cannon. Players=popular vote Staff=electoral college Just like a presidential race, just because you won the popular vote, doesn't mean you become president.
Hello, As I do like this idea to make the applications private, but I disagree with half of it as I believe it is unlocked for players just to post their opinion/judgement on the player, but I wouldn't think that they'd go fully ahead of themselves and bring out the negative. I agree with this suggestion because it will reduce spam on threads and will keep them tidier for a moderator/administrator to view and it would create less flame wars ect. I disagree with this suggestion because you'd have to 'bump' it whenever because you would never know when someone posts/bumps their application, yours could be on the last page as you wouldn't be able to tell. Thanks, Turtalized.
Neutral. It could be good having the Staff looking at your app but still some members want to know whats happening in the community, and want to know who applied and has a chance for Moderator.
