      Hey guys!

      Christmas is coming early to Mineverse!

      Over the years, KitPvP has been our most requested server by far. It was Mineverse's most prominent gamemode, and honestly, I don't think we would have ever found success without it.

      It's the server players remember the most — one that holds a deep sense of nostalgia for our community. I've made many attempts in the past to recreate the original setup or reimagine KitPvP into something fresh that players would enjoy. Unfortunately, those efforts have only led to failed releases and players longing for what KitPvP once was.

      I am excited to announce that KitPvP is officially back!

      The original KitPvP setup is now here to stay with the oldschool map that is exact to what it used to be. This is considered a soft launch, where most features are playable, but I still have tons of ideas to improve it to be significantly better and balanced than before.

      Here are some details:

      • The setup is exact, used from old backups dating back to the 2013-2015 era.

      • The map is the same too. Though, I have ran around improving some aesthetics of the spawn and outside area.

      • Various plugins from our OP PvP release two years ago have been added. These were projects that took a lot of thought at one point and it will improve KitPvP in the long run.

      • Most notably, Points will be a core feature of KitPvP. Now you must actually be involved with its gameplay in order to progress.

      • The in-game ranks, such as Lieutenant and General, will still remain, though instead of them being purchasable with in-game money, they will be obtained from Points.

      • Points can be earned from various PvP related aspects. It is still a work in progress, but the core functions of earning points already exist.

      • In order to obtain one of the in-game ranks, you must reach level 55. It can take some time to get there, but like mentioned, we will find a middle ground on what is fair to get there. We don't want to make it too easy or too difficult.

      • The full list of ranks are as follows:

        Sergeant
        Lieutenant
        Captain
        Major
        Colonel
        Brigadier
        General
        Admiral
        Commander
        Warlord
        Overlord

        This adds Sergeant before Lieutenant. Admiral after General. Commander, moved thereafter. Something that was out of order in this past. Additionally, Warlord and Overlord, have been added, with Overlord being the max rank.

      • Once reaching level 55, you may prestige, giving you your first rank listed above. You start back at level 1 when choosing to do so, and reaching level 55 at this prestige, will rank you up to the next tier. Each rank has its own kit, that gets more and more improved. Finding a balance here will be a main priority, but I do think it is fair even now. The act of prestiging is nearly complete, but not yet accessible.

      • We can not and will not add back kits to purchased ranks. It is not allowed under the EULA and there is no option for us to do so. I also think it is best to make PvP more fair. In the past, the server was dominated by Titans. KitPvP at one point was impossible for new players to start and mostly played by those with existing ranks. The ranks obtained from leveling up, will never match the overpowered kits that ranks like Titan contained.

      • Crates - Common, Rare, and Ultra will give upgraded weapons, money, experience levels, and items such as miscellaneous rares. The plans are to focus on keeping the economy an important aspect of KitPvP, developing an alternative economy besides only PvP items, and some new items will be added over time.

        None of the crates will be purchasable on the webstore. They can be obtained fully by in-game methods.

      • Killstreaks are the newest addition to KitPvP and will be a fun aspect for players to trade custom items and abilities. You earn these killstreaks from achieving 5, 7, and 10 kills.

        The killstreaks obtainable are as follows:

        Care Package - Randomized loot crate that gives money, weapons, and other materials.
        Poison Gas - Deploy toxic gas within a centralized area.
        Hulk - Launch players into the air.
        Artillery - Call in an airstrike within a confined area.
        Attack Dogs - Spawn four rabid dogs that follow and assist you in combat.
        Rings of Fire - Ability to set the ground ablaze.
        Airdrop - Request an airdrop consisting of four care packages.
        Napalm - Call in a strike that deploys incendiary bombs.
        Poseidon - Summons lightning strikes from the sea.

        You might be thinking, some of these sound a bit overpowered, but they will not be one hit strikes or blasts, just something that can inflict minor damage on enemies and surrounding players.

      • Player Stats have been added which can track everything that can be inflicted within PvP combat.

      • Leaderboards will rank these stats by the top players with the highest amount of these PvP aspects.

      • Bounty plugin has been added back and greatly improved.

      • Auction House plugin enhanced. Auctions within chat has also been improved and is now nicknamed as eBay. Something that was a bit funny the oldschool PvP and Faction servers would utilize.

      • Armor sets, a feature added a couple years ago on OP PvP will fit well with KitPvP. This allows you to condense sets of armor into packs for easy storage. You can unpack these sets at anytime.

      • Combat Tag / PvP Timer has been increased from 5 seconds to 10 seconds. This will make it so combat lasts significantly longer and reduces players that attempt to exit fights quickly.

      • Enderpearls are essential, but they are also annoying. They will be obtainable, but not as easy as before. They will be rare and more expensive, but still fairly common, the idea is to make it an item that is used strategically rather than consistently.

      • Daily Rewards added to spawn for daily money, this is a plugin that did not exist on the oldest setups.

      • Dragon Eggs are still a rare object to find throughout the map. This will contain some common items, rare, and junk.

      • Lightning Strikes will randomly select a player and give similar rewards, this is something for example, where Enderpearls can be obtained from. These do not go off unless there is 5+ players online.

      • Quests can be completed for additional money, points, and other rewards.

      • The AntiCheat is different and what I feel is improved than the oldschool days, but like any AntiCheat and especially on 1.8.9, there is always ways to bypass no matter how perfect. Hacking will be more of a process in which players must actively report and stricter punishments will be in place. Players that are determined as hacking, will receive a warning, three warnings will equal a one month temporary ban, then a permanent ban thereafter.

      • Tons of miscellaneous improvements, enhancements, and cleanups of mostly everything.
      I hope everyone enjoys! KitPvP will now forever exist on Mineverse, it will not be removed again. Keep in mind like mentioned, some features are still a work in process and over time, I only hope to make it the best 1.8.9 PvP server available!

      The point of these releases and future updates to our current servers is to perfect Mineverse into a playable network again. We would need advertisements, social media, and other avenues to attract players and increase retention, so I don't expect this to drastically raise our player count. But we need these setups first before moving forward, which is why this release is more or less a soft launch.

      Sounds fun! Hopefully you can earn points w/o pvp as well though I’m sure it’ll take a while (if ever) for other players to be regularly playing

      I look forward to trying it out though

      please start making changes. kill cool down is awful, make it 30 seconds to one minute and it does NOT reset when you kill someone again. unban me from the discord
