I think the best strategy is to find a place where no one ever goes because its bad. This has made me last man standing 5 out of 10 times

I preffer to pvp and kill some zombies than camping in some random place. That way if you win it will be more exciting.

 

Preferred method-Run around naked at last 30 seconds as last man standing. 11/10. (it's actually extremely exciting and funny for me :p, btw I think this belongs in discussion)
