Hello, mineverse. It's Sir_Brandon_III here with yet another suggestion. Regarding the ' inappropriate name ' rule. First off, NoobCrew, and Cyptriot applied a new rule that does not allow inappropriate names, and all who have an inappropriate name shall be muted. From my understanding, this ticked off a quite few people. Now some people, due to loss of email, cannot Change their name, one person I can think of is @iElric. So I suggest. Donors get /nick, Not to be abused. So they may change their nick to something not inappropriate. And for the free players, request to have a nick change only if the player has an inappropriate name. So if a mod were to catch someone with an inappropriate name, he/she may ask the offender to change their name Via forums, the official site to change your name, or just while both the offender and mod are online. The offender will be warned, and if he doesn't change his name or nick, shall be muted. Another way to handle this, and most people may prefer this over the nick, also suggested by @iElric. Remove the rule completely. This would be less of a hassle than changing players nick. http://www.mineverse.com/threads/inappropriate-names.55035/ Best regards, -Sir_Brandon
No support! I agree that players don't need to be perm muted, but giving players /Nick will cause all types of Hell in the server. Back when I played Lavacraft /nick was allowed for donors. In those times innocent players would be banned because someone /nicked their name to the innocent player and would spam the chat with inappropriate language, impersonating mod messages or the mod themselves. I remember at least 5 players getting perm banned because of this.
I believe /realname also comes with it? So /nick Mookie. And /realname Mookie = Mookiezzx. It would be fun, but still no support.
The mods should have access to /nick and when they see someone with an inappropriate name they should nick them. But i dont support that the donors get /nick
No support, anyone can claim that he/she lost his/her email just because he/she wants to force other people to read their vulgarity that comes with their name. Anyway by contacting mojang and by providing your purchase ID you can request an email change but I foresee that some people have "lost" even that.
As I can see, no one would like the nick idea. I thought it was kinda bad idea myself, and was finicky about suggesting it. Since there is already thread on removing the rule, no point in this thread any more. @bananaman11223 can you close this? Thanks.
