They will see my desktop which contains various projects I'm working on that I kinda don't want people seeing.

This idea is inheritly flawed anyway as:
    1. If it does autoban on logout that just causes confused/impatient/people who simply don't want to share their screen with people hey don't know instantly banned falsely.
    2. It takes 5 seconds to delete a hack client from you mc folder and why would you leave a hack client in your folder anyway if you were going to screenshare? And even worse they could just simply move it to a folder somewhere else on their computer and move it back once they stop screen sharing.
    3. If it doesn't auto ban on logout it has no effect whatsoever over than being a annoyance.
    4. If the mods are not good at detecting hacks what's to stop them from freezing tons and tons of people wasting their time or possibly falsely banning them for very poor evidence.

This idea simply wouldn't work just for reason 2 alone.

Using the versions folder as evidence to ban someone isn't fair, just because they have hacked clients installed doesn't mean they were hacking on that server. Look at my versions folder, but I haven't hacked for months on Mineverse.

This is also another incredibly good reason as to why this wouldn't work. I currently have a hack client installed for testing a friends anti cheat.

What's to stop someone who's actually hacking on the server to do the same? Based on the personalities of people I've known to hack on servers for "fun" they know how to do this easily and if they didn't attempt to do this they would spend their entire screen share dedicated to wasting the moderators time.

ss'ing is for hidden clients not obvious clients that u get on wizardhax. a kid using a client from wizardhax will most likely be using blatant hacks and get banned easily.

    This is the wrong way to do this for various reasons;

    1) You can't just 'force' someone to screenshare. It's a major violation of privacy. Even if you find something in their versions folder it really doesn't mean anything. I could be hacking on Minetime then go over to Mineverse to play some prison with my client still on, but it doesn't mean I'm hacking on Mineverse

    2) I can just log off when you ask me to screenshare and claim I had to leave asap. What are you gonna do, ban me w/o evidence? That would enrage your pvp playerbase and make the server lose quite a few players

    3)
Yeah no, we have a mod team which is monitored constantly by proven trustworthy head staff, why make a completely new team separate and entrust them with the power to ban? I'd rather not, thanks.

We've actually tried this when I was mod, and we eventually dropped it because of the flaws. Sorry, no support m8.

I guess you both know nothing of how the minecraft engine works. 1. You won't be banned for having hacked clients, only for using them. 2. Lets say I'm using 1.8 Optifine. Alright... I have Xenon, and 1.9. Minecraft has loaded the version 1.8 Optifine, which is a folder. Sure I can delete/edit Xenon and 1.9, but I cannot edit 1.8 Optifine without closing minecraft. You cannot move a client from your Minecraft folder if being used on your Minecraft client. Power ranger, you know nothing. Thanks for posting your opionions, but they aren't intelligent. Kolo's, there are steps you can take to see what version they are using. Snooper settings in Minecraft, F3. I am completely down for teaching the Staff Team how to use this tool once accepted, but don't downgrade this amazing idea. Think of the steps that an experienced staff member would take. Competitive server's use this. Its no where near a bad idea.

But the kid who gets his client from WizardHax even knows how to move a client out of their folder as that knowledge is necessary to install, well, 90% of things

Meme, What violation of privacy? Hundreds of server's do this. The player that is being SS'ed HAS CONTROL over where it goes on he/she's computer. You will stay frozen until you are SS'ed. A SS Team would be the staff team. I thought I made that clear in the Conversation with Cypriot.

If you could actually read, you cannot move the client out of the folder if it's being used on Minecraft.

Ok so now they are caught if they agreed to a screenshare in the first place: which they probaly wouldn't. It was already agreed by people on both sides of the arguement that autobanning on logging out shouldn't exist so what's to stop them from closing minecraft and moving a couple files?

Like I said in pervious posts, that is the Staff Team's decision on deciding whether or no the player will be automatically banned when asked to ScreenShare. If this was my server, than I'd make it a rule that when you log out when requested to be SS'ed, than you will be banned.

I find it funny how every server moves on and adds an ss team to catch more hackers and make the game more enjoyable for players, except mineverse, no offense but Helen Keller can understand what Chris is saying more than the members of this community, how do you expect this server to move on if all you do is rely on this old system, video evidence won't catch an auto clicker and vape ghost client. You staff members should be pushing to catch more of these cheaters rather than being lazy and banning the blatant kids and leaving them out to just ruin the game for others. Just preaching because I don't see how some of these staff are promoted with the lack of knowledge they hold.

Personally I don't think there should be a "SS Team". It would be handled by the current and future staff members.

As I mainly stick to the PvP servers, I get it a lot. People wanting to "SS" me and what not, or others wanting me to do so with people they are accusing of hacking.

Am I right to assume once frozen, if you leave you automatically get banned? If so, hopefully that could be set up.

As a pvp-based mod (Totally gave myself that tag), I completely see this as a respectable solution and would happily take on the role. Of course I would be banning per usual anyway, against people I know definitely do hack. For those people who are sketchy, I could then run this command and proceed. If they exit at any point, file the ban.
