Okay, before I start this, I want you all to know I do use Fraps and I probably won't stop using it unless my Shadowplay on GeForce Experience starts working. Fraps is an amazing product, but requires a ton of storage space on your hard drive! I recommend recording videos, editing them, then deleting the basic videos. Keep the finished edited videos for future reference. As you can see from the screenshot, I have kept 13 Fraps recorded videos on my PC without deleting them. I still have them because I am currently working on a Warface sniper montage. (Video here for reference of what Warface is) : Fraps records files in 1080p no matter what, but only keeps the true "1080p" quality if you render the video properly. Camtasia 8 does this pretty well, but Sony Vegas and After Effects CS6 both do an amazing job too. After rendering the videos with your program of choice, the files shrink like crazy. They shrink even more if you run them threw a program called Handbrake. Handbrake compresses the files even more than basic rendering and keeps the quality of the basic project. Here is a screenshot of the folder I use to store about 70 finished videos: As you can see, if I did not compress the Fraps videos down, they would be probably over a Terabyte of disk space, but after rendering them down, (all 70+ of the videos) are only 10.7 GB. I know this thread was random, but hopefully it helps you understand why Fraps records files so large and how to make them smaller. DO NOT UPLOAD A VIDEO STRAIGHT AFTER RECORDING IT WITH FRAPS!!! RENDER AND EDIT IT. This is what happens when you keep Fraps videos: If you want to know how to use Handbrake, here is a very helpful link:
I do agree, Daddy. It is pretty funny that people upload a video straight from Fraps without rendering it. Thanks for the rating.
