mkay, you're probably thinking that the ratings are fine, but in all honesty, I'm suggesting a change with them. Spoiler: Current Ratings/Changes Okay, so we all love our neutral optimism rating, right? I think it should be positive. Optimism generally means looking on the bright side. I know that sometimes it can be used to be sarcastic, but oh well :p Optimism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Bad Spelling. So I think it should be negative, as bad spelling generally isn't nice. I understand it might seem a little 'harsh' to give someone a negative rating for spelling mistakes, but if it's negative then people can be more careful, then we will lack posts with terrible spelling. The support rating. It's basically another "agree" and support is a positive thing. Some people have LOADS of neutrals from POSITIVE supports. The dislike rating. On another server forums, I made a poll on the dislike button, which was neutral at the time. I had 51 people vote and 66% of them voted neutral. This is lots better than giving POSITIVE ratings for this. I have had lots of good points brought up for both ratings. Spoiler: New Ratings I know there's a 'dislike' button or whatever, but I feel a negative rating 'rude' is necessary. Why? Because if the dislike becomes neutral (I doubt it, but eh) then there'll be no negative ratings. I also believe that quite a few posts can be harsh or hurtful, so yea. I think a 'roasted' rating would be a funny idea. It would be a positive rating and can be used when someone sets a good roast. It would be a bit like a 'rekt' rating or something. Another positive rating idea has credits to @Teeeb. It would be a 'cute' rating. Not sure what it'd be useful for, but I want it to be a rating. Spoiler: Rating changes in applications and suggestions So, in applications we should have 'Agree', 'Disagree', 'Informative' and 'Bad Spelling'. Agree and Disagree for feedback others give on someone's application and bad spelling on horrible applications with no effort or proper grammar/spelling/blah blah. Informative would be useful so people can keep in mind about feedback. In the suggestions we should have 'Agree' and 'Disagree' for if you agree or disagree with someone's support. Please take time to read this. ~Tyler
I support most of these, though I think bad spelling should remain neutral as it would just be giving people unnecessary negatives, and if like is positive it only makes sense for dislike to be negative. As for the agree & disagree in applications and suggestions, it would most likely be abused by the creator of the thread to agree/disagree with people who gave them support or no support. :P
The "Bad Spelling" rating is really only their to tell people that they spelled something incorrectly. Most people in this thread alone has used incorrect spelling, therefore the amount of dislikes per user will gradually grow to a stupid height, which in all honesty is just unfair. Dislike should remain as a negative rating, otherwise it's just pointless in having negative ratings at all. Roasted rating, if added would remain as a "fun" rating as you said, therefore deeming it neutral. Agreeing with someone else's support is shown by you also giving a support rating. Disagreeing with someone else's support doesn't actually have to be shown. Sure, you can agree, that's why you leave extra feedback. That also allows the thread holder to see more so on what they need to work on. They don't get notifications on people giving someone else an "agree" or "disagree" rating on their thread, so I think that is fine just the way it is.
Support for: Optimistic Rude Cookie No support: Bad spelling Support rating - People would gain positives way too quickly. Applications by themselves get a lot of ratings. Roasted
It's more useful than a cookie rating. People would gain neutrals way too quickly. The average person only gets about 20-30 supports, so it wouldn't make much difference.
