Yes, players commenting on an appeal/report is a waste of mods time, your suggestion of having a non-involved person comment in red solves nothing and restates the fact that players should be able to comment when in fact, they should not be able to, regardless of the color they can comment in.
so um.. should the reporter be able to tag the offending person? cuz, they don't know if they are reported..
No, why? There is no reason to. If you are innocent, you can prove it in an appeal if it leads to a ban. 99.999999999999% the person banned is rightfully banned. However there are those that get banned by mistake or some other reason, it happens, I have made mistakes as staff. The major majority of those reported are reported for a legitimate reason, a report is not a place to get in an argument or defend yourself. That is between the mod that carries out the punishment and the player that was reported and therefore banned. If there is not sufficient evidence or a player did not break a rule, then the mod closes the report and there is nothing done against the reported player. I can say I only banned a fraction of the player reports I did and I had well over 800 bans logged. There are countless times players reported someone for something not against the rules or reported them falsely. Therefore a player should not have access to their report to start a flame war against someone who reported them wrongly and now the staff have to take the time to implement warning points, remove ratings, edit content, etc etc.
Just from personal experience a lot of times that the victim or reported person was tagged or could post i would come back 10 minutes later to a flame war or fight. As i said above i have very rarely made a mistake by banning someone wrongfully in a report, and if i did, i would unban them straight away.
Viewing the archives is best as people can defend themselves in their ban appeals, and viewing the ban appeal archives can let the reporter see whats been done and whether they need to keep an eye out on the person. K this is my new suggestion - Making archives for reports/appeals viewable.
won't happen were not like skyblock sadly our community is very hateful and vengeful. He took out the viewing to stop the drama bringing it back would be chaos.
^^^ Not saying the moderators are corrupt or anything but there is always the off chance of a mod banning and unbanning friends or enemies? Is there not?
The community should be able to see reports and ban appeals to make sure the Moderator is doing their job correctly? Nah, I don't like that. We have a staff team, Head Moderator and Admins to do that. Being able to view reports and appeals may cause fights, rumours and harassment regarding the reporting/appealing player. Sure, appeals and reports may be fun to look at, but you have to think of the player's privacy. I'm sure that if we make them viewable, some players would be scared to make reports considering the player they reported may see it and harass them about it. In conclusion, I believe that the ban appeals and reports should remain private to the staff members and the reporting/appealing player, to protect privacy and prevent fights. That is all.
