Lol, I've seen cases which are different. When I was banned for disrespect, I had to drag it out of a mod who wasn't even the banning mod to find out what I was banned for exactly. We should be able to see how mods are dealing with things. There's no reason to hide them. There really isn't...
Wtf? then how do you appeal? People make alternate accounts so they can appeal They can also use the accounts to see why they are ban
Actually that is true, sorry I didn't think about that :P Point is I have my opinion, and it will stay.
That's wrong actually. If you get banned in game for 'hacks' and you come on the forums and watch the evidence, you can use that evidence to prove that you weren't hacking.
I don't see where you said that... All I see is "Rack up warning points for posting in ban appeals" and "when you are banned, you are also banned on forums" From what I see, you didn't say anything like GizzBots said...
Mods very rarely get reports wrong from what I see here on Mineverse. It either has no evidence, does not have clear evidence, or is enough evidence to be proven almost 100% bannable. Do you guys just have a problem with the mods or something? Lol.
You're kidding, right? Mods get reports all the time. One mod that I know, @PopIs_MyLife can back me up on this. He strives to do AT LEAST 5 reports a day. Did you read the very first post or?.. Not only do we want to be reassured that the mods are doing their jobs, but we also would like to view evidence that we may have been banned for? If you want I can explain this message more. Here is yet another classic reason as why I loved seeing them viewable. People don't have to post in them(which stops flame wars), ratings can be removed, ect. I remember when I first joined the forums due to being banned. If I wasn't able to go into the archive and view what I had been banned for, I'd of been lost. It was an incorrect ban btw. Not only this, but it encourages others to keep reporting people. If there are people who are bored out of their kinds going to view reports and watching people's videos, people will want to report hackers ect more often. It not only gives people things to do, but allows people to see why they were banned, and would make appealing a hell of a lot easier due to the fact they can view the evidence whenever they want. They could quite easily disable ratings and posting in appeals/reports.
I think this would be great but.. This statement makes me rethink my support so right now I am maybe..
Viewing the archives is best as people can defend themselves in their ban appeals, and viewing the ban appeal archives can let the reporter see whats been done and whether they need to keep an eye out on the person. The reasons for the actual appeals and reports being hidden on skyblock was most likely because mods there had to restore order constantly with people posting on ban appeals and that created unnecessary infractions and flaming, opinions that were not needed and generally confused the appeal with mods wanting to ask questions, but someone else involved is arguing with the banned person, thus the appeal/report is dragged out. The only way to fix this was making it completely private. Why? Heres why. The problem is it is not possible with xenforo to create a section which is read only for everyone, and editable for the person that made the thread which is the ultimate outcome given the above problem. Unfortunately this is the best way to ensure that reports and appeals are done effectively. And like pops said you really do not understand completely the necessity to having these sections hidden unless you are a mod. I have had the joys of trying to do ban appeals and reports without them being private and with them being private, and I prefer them being private, and have yet to make a fatal error.
I think if you were reported, you should also have an opinion, as there are always two sides in a story? right folks?
@krissy_punk said it perfectly. This was instated for a reason. As a player I completely understand and can relate to both sides. When reporting, you want to see the progress of your report. You want to see it play out, how the mod handles it, what progress is made and the outcome. As a mod, you want to only focus on the report itself. The last thing you want is to have a silly amount of people comment on the report and state their opinion whether it is right or wrong, who was friends with who and commented to commented whether correct, biased or idiotic or not. By having reports public, moderators were having to waste their time combing through a report on top of dealing with the report itself. This stems back to players wanting mods in game more or wanting reports done. Well you can't get reports done as efficiently as if they are locked and be able to spend more time in game if there is nonsense being posted on reports. It is simple, remove the ability for outsiders to comment, let the staff focus on the report itself, then get in game, ban/give consequence and spend time in game. For appeals, truly it is between the moderator and the player. We all know that Mineverse is a server that continually unbans rule breakers unless they are deemed a real threat or constant nuisance. The sooner you understand that mods have perm banned players and then a ban list is reset out of their control the sooner you may support your staff. Sure, here and there some staff don't do proper research and see a history and deny an appeal and name changes have not made it any easier, but overall, they do the right thing, but the ban list gets reset at the owner's discretion. Deal with it, this server is a business. However the staff continually sacrifice their free time and their game-play to make it as best as they can. TL : DR - Nothing was blocked for a long period of time. The players evolved to waste mod's time in reports and appeals therefore the Admin/Owner deemed it necessary to privatize it between those that need to be involved. XenForo does not have the capability to make it so certain people can read, others can comment and others can't do anything. Sorry.
Please thoroughly read and understand what I said before commenting 25 seconds after it is posted and stating something completely irrelevant to the post. Thank you.
