Greetings, I have decided to create this suggestion as I feel very strongly about this idea and believe that it is right and just to have this implemented. Before I start, I request that a moderator tags Cypriot as this is important. @KatoKillsMyGPA - I would also like to hear your point of view on this topic. My suggestion is simple - Put reports/ban appeals back to how they were. I believe that players should be allowed to see when they are being reported and with what evidence, and be able to see that moderators are doing their jobs correctly. Here are more reasons why I believe this should be put back: Players are obviously an important part of Mineverse and realistically, any community. Now, I think that nothing should be hidden from Players, hence why I wonder why reports/appeals are being hidden? If a player, such as myself is being reported I believe that they should be able to view the allegations made about them. Staff are not meant to tell players about reports due to 'leaking'. I believe this is extremely stupid and should either not be a thing or we should be allowed to see reports. Why see ban appeals? Although we should not have doubt in our mods, how are we supposed to be reassured that the mods are doing their jobs correctly in ban appeals? Ever since Appeals were made hidden, I have not had the same enthusiasm to report people as I find that soon after the reports being accepted, the player is found back in game, doing the same thing, again. Some may argue that the mods are guaranteed to be doing their jobs in the appeals, but if this is the case, what is there to hide? Why see reports? Reports should be viewable due to the fact that people should have the right to view what is happening in Mineverse. This is basically common sense. Originally, I believe that reports/appeals were made hidden to stop the following: Posting in reports/appeals without being directly related or supplying evidence; more or less just providing an opinion. Using the rating system to devalue ones appeal/report, again, based off opinion. Here is what I suggest to solve these simple problems: Disable any form of posting/ratings by any normal player. Only allow mods/admins or the player who created the thread to post reports/appeals. Make reports/appeals viewable to the public. This will resolve any confusion/uncertainty of reports/appeals. Another thing that I have noticed is that since this was changed, reporting people requires a player to go through numerous 'sections' to report someone. One section is to get to the reporting section, the next is to get to the template, and the next is to actually report the player. This is extremely annoying. As you can most likely see, I have put a ton of effort into this suggestion and strongly hope that it is at least thought about/viewed by Cypriot. Feel free to post any opinions/points you have on here. Cheers, GizzBots.
This has been said many of times, cyp doesn't get moderator tags, and I highly doubt kato does either.
Disable any form of posting/ratings by any normal player. Only allow mods/admins to view reports/appeals. I think you made a little mistake here... you're saying only Mods/Admins should be able to view it, contradictory to your entire thread.
SUPPORT. this is a great idea but i think they should add RANKED tags on the forums because it will be nice to know who is a rank :P
I don't think this will be implimented. 1. It is not your job to see if Moderators are doing their job by handling Reports/BanAppeals. 2. Cyp might have done it for a reason, and he might not like it to be changed. But I will ask him for you.
Fixed. I have made strong points. There is no reason for these to be hidden? Why can't they be viewable by normal members, but only staff may post? For all I know, I could be working really hard to record a hacker, get them banned then have the moderator just unban basically immediately? Thank you for your support. I knew that Cyp doesn't get tagged from normal players, but I wasn't aware he doesn't get them from mods either.
Oh, ok. Thanks. The thing with this is that you wouldn't be able to tell what you're being reported with at the time. If someone really wants to make a 'private report' they could just create a convo with a mod. Thanks for your support & feedback.
Do you know how much easier this makes mods' lifes? Not warning and deleting the people's comments who post there? There's a lot more stuff that I will not go into, but I can definetely tell you that mods (that included me as well) do prefer the appeals and reports being the way they currently are. I don't support this suggestion.
The idea is that they're VIEWABLE - Meaning normal players can only view appeals/reports, not post or rate in them.
Still, appeals and reports are only meant to be seen by staff. It's best that way. You'll agree with me when you get mod, trust me.
