Has anyone noticed how much the server is spammed by people who just joined the forums applying for Moderator. To stop this we should implement something that does not allow them to post something in the Moderator Application section for about a week. This means the forums will be less spammed with Moderator Applications from New Members that won't get accepted. I know it's not really necessary, but it's INCREDIBLY annoying having so many New Members apply for Mod and the forums just getting spammed with applications.

I don't see the harm in them, like, most of the 'New Member' applications get about 20 replies then get lost and not replied to again while the applications of the more known members stay at the top.

Anyway, won't there still be spam from new members after their week of no posting is over? I don't mind it either way, just giving my input. : )

 

One of the reasons people sign-up to the forums is to apply for the position. That's a great thing. Mod apps are awesome. If they are serious about applying, they will continue and show improvement and further gain the position. Why should we stop that?

Well, I applied for Mod when I was a New Member and worked my way from there, so.

I actually applied when I was a member, but I only applied just because I got the Member tag. I sort of worked my way from there and then became a moderator, then got demoted but let's not start on that.

I totally agree.

I do think though that a lot of new members apply just for the position and then they start to argue because they have no idea what a good mod app is, so I'm going to go towards neutral.

But you are experienced and worth it. Most New Members that applies aren't that experienced. They also don't information in their Application.

Yes okay, you are right. But mostly they say "I think I will become a Mod because I am very helpful". That isn't enough. Or "Because it's fun to be a Mod".

Maybe this is what shouldn't be allowed. If you tick all of these boxes, your app gets closed.

1. You are a new member
2. Less than 10 lines of why you should become a moderator
3. Does not follow the template
4. Has not been on for a week ever since they made the app.

 

I was not very experienced when I applied. If a New Member comes on with the same detail and intentions I did, they should be allowed to apply. Just means we have to deal with a few short apps. : )
