He did try to return the items that he didn't have room for. You left the items on the ground stating you did not want them and at that time he grabbed them and ran off. I'm not sure I would call this a scam. You could have easily said the deal was fine. He paid you for the items he took.
look around the 3 minute mark at the gear he trys to return firstly some of it is broken deminstarted by when i fix it and secondly around the 3 minute mark you can see some of it isnt p4, infact alot of it is
