From the WIKI: "The range of a sword is approximately two and a half blocks" Source: "http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Tutorials/Player_versus_Player" From My Knowledge of servers: Servers run at 20TPS and therefore 4 Hits Per Second. 5 Ticks per hit. But lag makes it 3 Hits per second. Even then how did he hit me 4 times a second with every hit on at the range even with little knockback? Proof:
