So I've been wanting to make a sorta guide on bedwars for a while, and now I'm making it. This is also just how I play bedwars, many other high tier bedwars players have different strategies, but this is just mine. Also, you can assume no teamwork is happening here unless stated. In my opinion, the stereotypical bedwars player is a very unaware 12 year old, and this can be taken advantage of. Also this is not a thread for new players, Im assuming you have basic pvp skills and know how bedwars works. I also dont expect anyone to read all of this so just skip to the part you need help with, or read the whole thing if ya feel like it lmao. Know who you're playing against - Most of the time blue team is full of unaware 12 year olds, if you press tab and see a bunch of people on blue team who you dont know, its most likely all 12 year olds who picked blue team because it was their favorite color, or they didnt know how to pick a team and got defaulted to blue team (The game defaults players who dont pick teams to blue, then red, then yellow, then green.) Also green is generally the best team because it gets people defaulted to it last, and because red and blue are the most common favorite colors, and the younger the player, the more likely they are to pick their favorite color (that was off topic). If you see a team filled with good bedwars players, its a good idea to stay on defense and wait for a counter attack. Gear - Standard Gear: Max armor, max bow, max sword, max pickaxe (lol), 16 pork steak, 64 sandstone Windmill: Echest, 2 Golden Apples, and an Epearl(helps with killing teams quickly) When solo facing a team of skilled players: Pretty much everything you can get, Speed, Strength, 2 Golden Apples, Epearl, and hella lota health pots, 2 stacks of blocks. When solo facing a team of unskilled players: Usually an epearl and speed is enough for easy teams. If ya want: Speed and heal pots are always useful, and cheap, I usually dont get them because its annoying to buy from the villager lol. Strategies - Windmill: It takes 30 bricks to get to mid, so stand on the bricks and if you dont mind sounding like a butthurt 12 year old tell all of your teamates to gtfo of the way. Then build to mid, get gold, immidietely buy the Standard Gear + Windmill, and roast Skyline: Wait for some 12 year old to build to you, and if they dont, then wait for a 12 year old on your team to build for you, if that still doesnt happen, give on of your useless teamates a speed potion and blocks and tell them to build, if you dont have any teamates then just put all of your stuff in a chest (in case you get sniped) and build yourself. Also its always a good idea to have a chest filled with gold swords in case you die and get counter attacked also, when enderpearling, always go onto the roof of the house, it is very easy to defend, and usually the defending team wont have any players standing there Texas Massacre: Same as skyline, but try to be more sneaky, because people usually have their faces buried in the villager Going Against a Team of Random Players: Try to enderpearl onto a high point in the map, and put a wall behind you so you cant get shot off. Then kill the few players who know how to buy bows (they most likely dont know how to dodge arrows), and go for the bed as the rest of the team is probably still getting ready even though its already 20 minutes into the game. Or if you wanna be kool, you can bring a strength pot with you and kill all of them, then set up a spawn trap and farm kills, since they're random players, they will most likely have no idea whats going on and just keep re-spawning and giving you farm. Going Against a Team of Skilled Players: These matches are usually alot more fun, and I had a few matches against some very good top tier bedwars players last night which is what made me wanna make this thread. Now usually skilled players are very aggressive, this is because we've played bedwars alot, and we dont wanna wait around and do nothing. So a good idea is to wait for them to come to you, after they come to you, wait for at least half their team to come to you, and kill them, then you should already have the "when solo facing a team of skilled players gear" already in your inventory and go for a counter attack. Now when you enderpearl to them, you can always assume that everyone is going to instantly know when you enderpearled. The first thing you wanna do is to just stay at a high point, and kill as many players as you can with your bow who may not have reacted fast enough to your enderpearl. Then you just wanna hold your ground and wait for the right time to make a move. Simply staying in their base helps out your team because this gives them time to either come with backup, or finish building a bridge to them. Although your teamates probably suck, they make excellent distractions. Also use your bow as much as you can, many people hate "bow spammers", but its very good for killing players without taking any damage, if you try and solo their entire team with your sword, you're not going to get very far. Many maps have back routes to the beds, and even though they are skilled players, they are most likely too lazy to put that much effort in defending those routes. And finally, make sure you dont have your back to any ledges, they will knock you off and you wont be able to do anything about it. Facing a team of skilled players isn't easy, you're going to fail 90% of the time, but you can only do so much by yourself. Other Tips - Bridging: When bridging, you can do a technique called speed building. Basically what you do, is every other block (some can do it every single block) you unsneak for a split second right after you place a block, this gives you a little speed boost, and if timed right you can build much faster than normally. If you are getting shot at while bridging, you can usually save yourself from dying to the second shot (it takes 2 critical arrows to kill you if you have no armor) by seeing the arrow coming and placing a block in front of it just keep watching the arrows coming and block them by placing blocks in front of yourself. Also, if you just killed a team, and they are screaming at you and calling you a hacker, when you start bridging again, build slowly, because they most likely suffer from salty spec disorder, and they will spec block you. Spawn Killing: Spawnkilling is very frowned upon in the bedwars community, but idgaf so ima tell you how to be effective at it anyway. Always go for the weakest team, bad players are more likely to keep respawning because they think they have a chance at still winning. Spawnkilling is also much easier with 2, as one can kill the people spawning, while the other makes a spawntrap. If you are doing it alone, if the spawn point is close to a ledge, you can try and wait until the player does take knockback, and then hit him/her off first, because it will buy you time because they will be falling to build the spawn trap. Bed Protection: If you're feeling lazy, a one layer of sandstone on the bed will make it "fist proof". This basically means that some random steve cant just run in and break your bed in 2 seconds. Having that layer of sandstone makes it take much longer to break the bed without a pickaxe, so you can kill those pesky steves. If you wanna go all out bed protection, use chests and endstone, place your chests around the bed far enough away from the it to where you cant reach through them and break the bed, then fill in the rest with endstone. This is the best bed protection possible, and the rest you can jsut keep adding layers of chests after that to make it safer. On snow islands 4 chests in the door way of the house is amazing bed protection. On Texas Massacre you can harvest sand from under the island by breaking the block under it and quickly placing a carpet (can be gathered from near the villager) where the block you just broke was to collect the sand. Then you can put the sand around your bed and its "unbreakable". Bowing: Using bows at close range is very effective, the 13 gold bow has insane kb, and you can "bow spam" to very cheaply get kills against full armored players. However be careful, because if you miss a shot, you're dead. Hackers: Hackers run wild and free in bedwars. You can assume there's going to be at least 2 hackers in any bedwars game you play. If you see a random player with a name or skin that looks stereotypical to a hacker, dont engage them in sword pvp, always bow them to death or risk getting kill aura'd. Other hackers are more obvious with no kb. Their weakness is blocks. what you can do is break blocks a few blocks on a path, then when they come at you wildly swinging their sword, simply place a block on your side of the bridge, and when they jump over the gap you made, they will fall into the void and die. This is a very fun way to kill people and is also very effective if you time it right. If there's a hacker defending the bed, try and jump down on top of them in a closed area, just make sure the kill aura cant knock you far back enough to the point where reach kicks in. Also make sure you have better gear, or you will die every time. Shopping: When buying an iron sword and pickaxe, you dont have to scroll all the way to the right, just place 5 gold or 1 gold in the first slot after clicking the weapons or tools section, and click where the item should be and it will give you the iron sword or pickaxe. This also works with the enderchest, and buying 1 arrow if you just place 1 gold. Playing a mental game: If you're too lazy to build, simply piss someone off to the point where they will come attack you. Simple phrases like <username> = TRASH can easily make someone mad to the point where they come attack you. Also if someone is camping the bed, try asking them a few questions, if they respond, ask them a longer question, then epearl in on them and kill them while they're typing. Im not personally a fan of that 2nd strategy since its a pretty lame way to kill someone, but it works lmao. When you're lazy: Gold Sword + Chestplate + Apples + Blocks * 3 or 4 players = Roast pretty much any team Building a "Base": Just... dont... please... It never does anything.... If You Just Died: If you just died and are expecting a counter attack, only buy a 13 gold bow and arrow and try and fend off the immediate counter attack, then you can start to slowly buy back your gear. Breaking an "Unbreakable" Bed: So if someone has wool or sand or an unbreakable block surrounding their bed, there actually is a way to break it. What you can do is lag yourself enough to where you can glitch it and break through the unbreakable block. I'm sure everyone's realized that when you try and break one of these blocks, they break for a split second and then come back. What you can do is open up speed tests on your browser (http://www.speedtest.net/) to lag yourself. This will make the blocks be "broken" longer so you can break the bed before the "unbreakable" block comes back. For me I have to have 3 speed tests running at once for it to work, however depending on how good your internet is you might need more or less. Feel free to ask question's I'll answer every single one. Also if there's any more situations I missed that you want me to cover let me know. Finally im not proof reading this because I'm too lazy, so please point out any grammar mistakes lel. If you have something mean to say, say it so I can roast you, roasting is a hobby of mine.
The Base technique is great if youve 6 people, i do it all the time on skyline and never lost. just dont do it on windmill
Can you tell us what to do in case we encounter a wild 12 year old? They seem very scary. I don't know if I'm prepared.
That must mean Sando and I are 12 0.o or me at least bc that makes me go Kenji style and spawnkill w/str.
until someone enderpearls to you and you cant see where he landed because your base is blocking your line of sight xD
