You could try putting the Minecraft rain on loop in Windows Media Player or such or open another Minecraft window on a local world with rain set...

I have a slightly better idea, disable people dropping books, that way they can still make books for themselves and put them in chests to share...
I don't think that the current creative world should have larger plots but I think that a NEW creative with larger plots would be a good thing...
