I know the staff team recommends people they want to be moderator, but they tend to pick the people who are reapplying. They already had their shot at it, why not let someone else do it instead?
Honestly people who've been moderator before have proven their ability to moderate already. Casual wasn't promoted for nearly a year after re-applying because of his demotion the first time. His ability to moderate was doubted because of that and was not given another chance until now. I would not say re-applicants automatically get it, but the re-applicants tend to be people who the staff already trust.
Plus, being moderator isn't really about "giving people a chance" but more of "who is gonna help the server". It shouldn't be that big of a surprise to see someone who was previously a good moderator be promoted again.
Lastly, all of people who were serious applicants for moderator were promoted this round. So, I don't see what you mean. There wasn't even anyone else to give "shot" to.
The thing is, you already have a low chance of becoming moderator. People don't support you unless you A. have a decent application, AND B. you're popular. Otherwise you'll rarely get a few supports here and there.
@Rasputin you only have a low chance if you simply aren't fit for the position, what people say on your application doesn't contribute towards anything, as long as you: make reports; be active; be kind/helpful and know the rules, you can and will become a moderator if you apply.
