Well the answer is "If they are nice enough to follow me, I will be nice and follow them back." Simple.

I was just thinking that the reason you follow someone is for your own benefit and it doesn't matter that much if they follow you back. :P

Yeah, that's practically it.
If someone follows you/ you follow someone it's not really saying anything but we do it anyway.
We just want to keep up with people.
