Just tell him that you will go around your neighborhood and then just say you can go out with friends if that makes him feel better. Tell him that there are stops and gyms around the city and that you can travel there with your friends and that A LOT of other people play this game. tell him that.

They could be if your backyard is small af or big af that's a big difference tbh. if its small. Chances are there will be none or maybe rarely a couple there. but sorry to say but you're gonna have to travel around. Like I said go with your friends if he lets you. I mean i've traveled clear across the city by myself without incident. besides running into fellow players. but thats up to your dad. And it also depends on where you live
