Chat Filter

Hello! I have a suggestion for the chat filters. I would like to suggest that instead of replacing the word that we said with something stupid and making people look like complete idiots for no reason, why not make it so they just can't say the sentence at all? I've found a few silly people who don't understand that swearing isn't allowed and that their words being replaced is just some weak thing to stop them from saying the full word so they change it. They don't understand that their words being replaced means they're not allowed to swear, and you can get punished if they do. So, what I suggest is making this appear in chat for them instead of making them look like silly people:

Very good idea, I always hate on op prison when I might say stuff like: "Anyone sell grmeep."
And I have to make a space in it which is annoying. "Gras s" as it takes the rude word inside a word and blocks it. I hope cup or noob notice this c:

Neutral, reason being, I think making someone look like a complete idiot will 'encourage' them to stop or at least reduce the usage of profanity.

 

Sometimes it's unpredictable what the chat filter will block. As shown in the screenshots above, the words asśistance and assassin were blocked.

 

That seems like a total different story that what you're preaching... :/

Users who use profanity will continue using it because they did not look like a complete 'idiot' in front of anybody which will 'encourage' them to reduce usage of profanity.

Why would you get punished for something as innocent as the one shown in the screenshot?

Wouldn't it be the same situation for this as well as they would be unsure why their sentence would not show?

 

No, in my screenshot it says "You said: ____" which will tell them what they said that is being filtered.

I'm sortof describing two problems. One being people not understanding that swearing isn't allowed, and the other being that the filter is stupid and not letting them say the sentence at all is better than making their sentence look silly.

I understand that your trying to help people realize that cursing isn't allowed, but I think it would be better to just add the 'mistake' next to the "Please Watch Your Language!" warning.
Reasons:
> Denying the sentence entirely will basically force the player to bypass the filter if they don't know or Google a synonym that fits the context.
Example: "TPA for an A,ssa,ssination RP!"
> Leaving it as 'meep' or ':}', people can at least fill in the blanks most of the time.
