Fan-fics are really giftable, but they are something that I often find myself reading and enjoying so YAAAAAAAAS.
I've never read much, but I've been hooked to Percy Jackson books. There's about 5 books in total. Really good.
1984 - George Orwell Catcher in the Rye - J.D. Salinger The Rum Diary - Hunter S. Thompson The Grapes of Wrath - John Steinbeck None are light reads I'd say
Here comes a long list: Note: Titles with * by them mean they are Newbery Award Winners Xanth series starting with A Spell for Chameleon - Piers Anthony (over 28 books last I checked and all pretty awesome) The Lord of the Rings really should be read by all as well as The Hobbit Harry Potter - Another one I think everyone should read once in their lifetime The Neverending Story - Preferably the one that's two toned for what's happening in Bastian's world and what's happening in Fantasia - This is my all time favorite book and I have several characters and pets in WoW (World of Warcraft) named after characters in the book. The movie really only covers the first few chapters, not even half of it really. His Dark Materials Series starting with The Golden Compass - Philip Pullman The Giver by Lois Lowry * Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of N.I.M.H. by Robert C. O'Brien * Number the Stars by Lois Lowry * Maniac McGee by Jerry Spinelli * The Midwife's Apprentice by Karen Cushman * Redwall by Brian Jacques ("Killee killee" hehe my fave part. You'll get it if you read it) Acorna by Anne McCaffrey (No it's not a girly book... It's basically sci-fi) House of Night Series starting with Marked by P.C. Cast (I must admit by the 6th book I started getting bored. But there is a lot of wicca in it that I relate to since I am of that religion and I feel it teaches a lot about how we are not evil witches >.> It's actually a vampire series though.) That's all I can think of for now. I read a lot. OH Also: The Apprentice Adept Series starting with Split Infinity by Piers Anthony (It's a cross between Sci-Fi and Fantasy and I do not recommend it for kids under 14 as it has some somewhat 'adult' scenes) Hi, my name is Misty and I like to read... lol
Some of my favorite authors are Lois Lowry (The Giver Quartet, Number the Stars), Shannon Hale (for girls ;p), Marguerite Henry (lots of wonderful horse stories), and Eleanor Estes. Favorite books: Criss Cross(No action- not for fantasy lovers; pretty slow, thoughtful book); I, Juan de Pareja(Historical fiction); Chronicles of Narnia(fantasy ;p); Percy Jackson and the Olympians (fun books; lots of action)(the Heroes of Olympus series is much longer, but another good choice); Redwall (and tons more much like it; Medieval animal fiction cx); The Lunar Chronicles (a sci-fi series with lots of action + romance)
