Two-Factor Authentication [Extra account security!]

2FA aka 2 Factor Authentication has been introduced and implemented to allow everyone to have better forum security.

I am going to explain how this benefits you and how to use it.

What is 2FA aka 2 Factor Authentication?
Basically it's a 2nd layer of security. To log into your account you will not only need the password, but also a verification code which only you can generate since you possess the verification token. The verification code regenerates every 30 seconds. You can watch the videos below on how to set it up or follow the text tutorial below.




If you have any questions or trouble setting it up, make a a thread in the help section on forums or Discord.


1) Download an Authenticator Application
If you want to have this code generated on your Browser then download an Extension on either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox:

If you want the code generated on your phone then open App Store/Play Store and search for Google Authenticator. If you're on your phone and want a direct link:

Click here if you are an iOS user



2) Enable 2FA on your Forums Account:
Hover over your username in the top right corner and click "Two-Factor Authentication". Alternatively click here.




3) Get a 2FA key
Make sure "Use two-factor authentication" is ticked on and click "Add a New Key"




4) Add the key to your Authentication App
You'll see a window like the image below. If you're on your PC and have the Authentication App on your phone, you can scan the QR code. Alternatively you can copy and paste the key provided into the App.



5) NEVER DELETE
Remember never to delete the 2FA generator as you may be locked out of your Forums Account. If you're switching phones, remember to disable 2FA on the Forums temporarily. If you manage to delete or lose access to it, you should create a support ticket.

Nothing, since you've trusted your device to sign into your forums account you will never need to login with your security code. If you log in on another device you will need to reenter your code.

Once you've set it up you won't need to do it again. The code in the app will regenerate every few seconds.
