Hi there, a short rant from me. I like to rant so expect a lot of these . The issue I wanted to touch on today is the fact that Ponyknight99 has been disturbing the general flow of kindness and good people for I don't know how long. I recently saw that he was ban avoiding with another account called Ponyknight99.. instead of just Ponyknight99. This is the result of his main account being banned. Now, there are indeed multiple reasons why I am making this thread. One of them is to, yes, vent. It literally took all of my self-control not to just completely explode and rant on his profile page. I'm sure this is the case for a lot of you. However, we need to accept that Pony might not be as bad as we might think. Before he became the abomination of a whiner (no offense) that some of you see him as today, he might just be insecure because of something that happened IRL or in his early days on Mineverse. I'll come out and state the obvious that cyber-bullying is a worldwide problem. There is literally nothing we can do ourselves except encourage others to be kind, and to not do it yourself. We all have to remember that, however real the people behind the screens are, the words that display on your computer are just that, words on a screen. My real life self isn't even close to what I display in-game. Mineverse, all in all, has a great community. But we have to remember that we are just a group of people who like to display their interests and beliefs with the Internet, over a good game of BedWars or SkyWars, or just plain Survival. Going back to Pony, I personally think his heart is in the right place. I myself can be a little overprotective of what I believe in. I know it's easy to be biased when it comes to these things, if maybe Pony, or anyone else for that matter, embarrassed you or a close friend. But, if we want to solve these problems, we have to become unbiased and listen to both sides of the story. Maybe Pony has something he hasn't shared with you, and that is why he may seem insecure. Like I said earlier, he's just a guy behind a screen. You don't know anything about his, or anyone else's life story, unless they directly told you. Tl;dr: I just want you guys to realize what you may be doing, even if you don't know it at first. I guess I'm just trying to promote equality :P. Anyway I hope this mini-essay helped you understand what may be happening here. Thanks for reading! ~Roc
I like this. And I agree, Cyberbullying is a very big problem and it never stops. I don't know what the rest of you do to prevent it but what I do, is to just make someone's day a bit brighter everyday. I give them compliments, I help them and I tell them to never stop smiling. These are temporary problems but, (may be going extreme) if you start to consider suicide, think again. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Well said Rocman. Keep Smiling
Ya know, I became briefly acquainted with this "Pony" a majority of people on here came to dislike. I don't wish to get too personal as I don't wish to leak my personal life problems on a forums site, but.. I endured what I call 17 years of Hell. Everywhere I have went I have been downright alienated and hated upon. It was in the fifth grade I came to the realization of what people are truly like. After a year of bitter and extreme harassment, physical attacks, and hate crimes. I began to think that it was me that was the true problem. I would every night at the age of 11 cry myself to sleep, that or inflict self harm. I was eventually plotted to be publicly stabbed by a pair of scissors. Thankfully, my math teacher overhead this and they were promptly arrested immediately. Nonetheless, this and the events that would follow would weather me down to my true self. To make me come to the realization of what most people in today's media filled society are truly like. This very realization being that most of people truly could care less of your presence here, and more of advancing themselves. They will do this by lying, cheating, and stealing whenever and wherever they damn can. With this, comes my opinion of this "Pony" situation. I understand why many on here may have had a problem with him and such. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions of others, etc. But, what I do not understand is why people think it was truly right to blantly and constantly spew insults his way. Sure, he may have disrespected some.. And sure, he may have hurt some..... But does that truly make you the better person by lowering yourself to such a level as to insulting another person over a damned screen?! What you guys don't understand, is that on the other side of this screen is a living human being. A person with feelings, and emotions, and a personal life of their own, etc. Do you really think that constantly going out of your own way to directly insult him makes you somehow right? What you also don't understand is that words can often hurt more than any physical harm could. That these insults that were constantly given actually helped turn Pony into the common annoyance you may think he is. That these insults actually cut, and hurt, and affected. The ignorance and immaturity of people is truly jaw dropping. To think rather than ignoring him, you'd much prefer to waste your own energy to directly insult him. Bullying in any form is no joke, and a matter I have personally experienced in my life that nearly made me lose hope in humanity. And with this, I leave you all to ponder. Was this all worth it? All the hate, and now he's gone forever? I bet it was for some.
Wow.. Beautifully said WolfBane. I am also sorry for the experience(s) you had to go through to realize all of this.
I don't like Pony. I think his intentions are screwed. I know others will dislike me for saying this, but you cannot force someone to like someone else. This thread will only cause problems, or be completely ignored due to the fact Pony is supposed to be gone. Also, my perspective of cyber-bullying isn't really the same as yours. Usually cyber bullying consists of people that know each other in real life. One person decides to harass one online whilst dodging punishments. "Cyber bullying" on Mineverse however, doesn't really seem like cyber bullying, nor the same amount of severity. You're joining a community and you have the choice to leave if you want. However, what I consider Cyber bullying is when someone is being harassed via social media, but they cannot escape it as they are on a popular platform (sorry, but Mineverse isn't a popular platform) and may not escape from it due to your family using it or anything related to that. I do understand your perspective, and I appreciate you dedicating time to posting this thread. Just please, please, don't fight for something you don't know that much about. None of us actually know his intentions, good or bad. Thanks! EDIT: And no, I am not stating bullying is a joke. Just to clear the air about that. I'm not saying what anyone did was wrong, nor was anything done right. This situations should just die and fade. It's already been handled by an authorized staff member..
Grayson, thanks for the reply. Although I don't agree with your position on this concept, you are entitled to your opinion and I respect that.
I politely disagree with your points that were made and here's why; "Cyberbullying: the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature." Cyberbullying, and bullying in general isn't limited as to whether people know each other physically or not.. And matters not if you're on this so called "popular platform." Cyberbullying can be anywhere's online, and can be taken in many forms. In this case. it was in a form of constant insults thrown back and forth at each other. As I said, I can understand why people on here may have disliked him.. But what directly insulting him, and lowering yourself to such a level truly the right thing to do? Did that truly make you the better person in this situation? Just because you don't like someone, doesn't mean you have to go out of your way daily to hurt them with words over a screen.
I see cyber-bullying more as extreme disrespect toward someone online whether they know them offline or not. Constantly harassing, insulting, degrading, and/or threatening someone over the internet is what is seen as cyber-bullying in my eyes. I respect your opinion though It is interesting to learn about different viewpoints on the same topic
I'm not saying it wasn't cyber bullying, I'm stating he could have easily escaped the harassment. I know he was being harassed, even before I even knew who he was, I knew he was being harassed. Like I said, No one was right in this situation, nor was one wrong. If we choose to blame, this will be a never ending pit of chaos, then someone will decide to hate on one another. Even if I was still staff member, I wouldn't address the issue to the community. It doesn't need anymore attention then it has already gotten. People know what they've done, and they must learn from it. If they don't, well, they will one day. We all learn from trial and error, that's just how it goes.
Also, please remember, Minecraft communities are quite... toxic. They contain very young age groups. There will always be aggressive and hostile members. Everywhere, there will be. If you want a more polite place, you should go to a server that has more strict rules, as Mineverse... isn't very strict.
Let's settle down... If this is going to end up as another flamewar, I'm closing it. I made this so it could be informative, and I knew the risks as I took them. Bickering is the opposite of what I want to see.
There's no flame war, I'm telling you straight up. Staff even understand where I'm coming from (well the ones I talk to).
I am not at liberty to discuss why Pony and Taters were asked to take their business elsewhere, but I will say that it was in the best interest of this community. There was far more than what anyone knows going on, and he's lucky I'm respectful. Because the things he was involved in made it hard to keep my mouth shut. Cypriot and Crew made the right choice by asking him to leave. As for this thread I will put it to rest, and ask that we all just let this go. It's rare that Cyp steps in to ban a regular user, and this time I thank him. Vile people have no place here. Not as long as I can help it.
