Inappropriate Names

@mind_trap so its ok for you to get mad and ruin someones life by telling them they are nothing but god forbid they see a name like FatSh!t or F*ckidy.

Another thing is on this server you cant have an inappropriate name because 10 and 11 year olds are going to use them but in reality all those "little kids" probably after playing minecraft go on call of duty and swear more than this server in a day

If someone manages to receive such response from me, his/her life was ruined long before I ever say anything, Im merely reflecting what I get. I am not Buddha, neither Jesus, if you slap me I won't turn the other cheek, I will punch you, so don't come later crying "mind_trap punched me" but instead realize that you gave me a reason to punch you. You can rest assured that when I wake up in the morning I am not walking around looking for people to punch. The person who received such response from me had told me way worse things and has even been banned for disrespect but you don't see me crying about it here. Every coin has two sides and for every action there is always a reaction, if you choose to see only the one side, you are wrong by choice.

Ok I understand where everyone is coming from.
This rule is a bit over rated, insane and Unnecessary.
But, this rule was designed to protect players.

This server wasn't designed to annoy members but to protect the community and young players. If you were a parent, and had a Child who was lets say 8, Was playing a game with players That had names Like, IF*ckedYourMom Or names that advertised Pornographic sites. You wouldn't want your child to play the game anymore. You would most likely write a complaint to the server or Mojang. We are trying to get rid of inappropriate names like that. When we muted idy that may have been unnecessary, But it is still inappropriate. If you really dislike this rule, I say leave and find another server that allows you to swear on it, Because this community was designed to be a nice and fun community for all ages.
This rule does need a lot of work, and needs to be more clear on which names get muted, Etc.

 

In my opinion, this rule is very unfair. It was implemented so the server would stay G-Rated? Have you ever joined the Creative server before? G-Rated server...Good job.

 

Minecraft is 10 and up ? This is a friendly a community to everyone including those players with those names, also your suggestion to leave the server, what is the person donated

 

There's gonna be way too much gray area if only some names are punished and others not.

And I think most parents would just take their kid off the game not write a formal complaint to anyone.

The problem is, most of us don't care about vulgarities in someones name. "Responsibilities." you can't do anything but wait 30 days to change your name. Therefore nothing can be done to be "responsible" in that situation. If you really do care that much, use /ignore, it's what it's there for.
My point is, no one should be stripped of their rights unless they have done something that is horrid enough for such a thing to be taken into consideration. A username doesn't make the cut to be something that horrid.
If you had a child named something profane, would you want them stripped of their 1st amendment rights?
Just because of the fact that their name is different? I doubt it.
Someone with a "bad" name could be a good person with good ideas, you never know.
If you all are that set on a solution to bad names, give mods the permission to:
/nick [player] [nickname]

 

I like how my parents don't care at all if people cuss and stuff, they just don't want me doing it 24/7. Honestly, I wouldn't care if my kid was exposed to profanity because they'd learn not to say repeat it still. -.-

 

While this shouldn't get you muted, why do you even have those names in the first place?

Lol, but I get what you guys are saying, it's not a fair rule in my opinion as well.

 

Developers Mojang don't allow anyone under the age of 13 to set up an account meaning any new purchase will have to go through a parent. If they see inapropriate things its there fault and there risk of joining the server. I know you might say this might ruin the reputation of the server but you have to admit no server loses there rep because of people with bad names lol.

 

Who are the "most of us" you are talking about? Do you have any valid proof of what the 1500+ players want or you assume that what you want is what everyone wants? If so present your proof otherwise your argument is invalid.

The 30 day waiting period doesn't apply to the accounts that are older than 30 days and therefore your argument is invalid. For example ierlic and f*ckidy can change their names right now since their accounts are old without having to wait. This affects only the newly created accounts and I believe that most people here have been on the server for over 1 month which makes their user names old and thus eligible to change right away.

Obviously you are not aware but name laws do exist and if you try to name your child with something profane your sanity will be questioned and it is most likely that the social services will take custody of your child. Banned names also exist.

When I play minecraft on a family friendly server I don't want to see anything related to sex, feces, racism etc. For you it might not be a big deal but for others is. Now if such topics and user names are important for you maybe you should find another server a more lousy one. As for the ignore, I prefer the people to behave respectfully that looking the other way.

 

Here lets also make a rule to ban all hoe's.
