What the title says. Add a trophy or two for the amount of followers people have. Have one for 10 followers (Worth 5 points), and then another for 100 followers (15 or 10 points). Suggestions @thorraks - add one for 250 followers (*20 or 15 points*) More focused on getting the "10 followers" trophy added
No support. It's already annoying when people go around asking for you to follow them and this will encourage that.
True. But I've been wondering. What's the point in following people? It's not like you get their status updates or threads they post. There is nothing different from following someone and not following someone (except for of course it says you follow them). I wanted to give a solid reason to following, and something for the new guys to get a trophy to make them feel accepted into the community. But I'm sure everyone has their own opinion on the point of following someone.
You mean to use it as a way to make it easier to identify when someone is online. Because there is the "online" green banner beside your name when you're online, and it shows everyone who is online in a list on the "forum list" page. But this is your reason and say, and I respect that. And I'm not going to make you change your mind
However, it'll turn to a "popularity" contest to see whoever gets the most "followers" Then everyone would be nagging F4F, which does get obnoxious. >.> And of course, It's easier to see them on the Portal Index and Forums list. Honestly, I believe *mostly* everyone here follows everyone for an easier access to see if they are one or not.
I doubt that will happen if only the trophy for 10 followers is implemented. As 10 followers can be easy to do if you put your mind to it. But I did take the F4F spam and annoyance into consideration while I made this suggestion. That's why I am more focused on the smaller trophy of 10 followers, rather then the bigger ones
The only reasons to follow someone are to see when they're online and to use the "News feed" section, nothing else. No support, some people will be tempted to beg for people to follow them; not that some don't do that already.
The thing is, someone can follow EVERYONE then the people the person followed are influenced to follow back. But then the person who followed all those people unfollowed them just for the trophy for followers. Then they unfollow the person.
People already do that. And not every would do it if a trophy would be brought in. Also it's 10 follows, there won't be an increase in follow related spam
