Firstly, why don't you like that? There is nothing wrong with that? Why should a player report a hacker, and go through all the effort to have the banned to know that.. Their appeal was not handled correctly. They were unbanned incorrectly. The player has an extensive history which the mod may or may not have known about. A promise was made to the player in the report and they are not aware of whether that promise has been fulfilled - Eg. A mod saying this player will stay banned due to their history. It is fun to look at them. If a player has broken rules, privacy is not an issue. They have broken the rules - And they should be open about that. You have to remember that these are people, they may lie in any circumstance to escape punishment. As for players being 'scared', they could always report people privately by pming a mod. Furthermore, this has brought another point to my attention - Mod apps. If players are able to see reports or the reports archive, they will be able to see how often a person with a mod app open reports which they can then use to judge the player on whether they have taken initiative or not. If there is nothing to hide then why do they remain covered up? I know we are meant to trust our mods, but sadly there is doubts, especially when I have a player banned and I see them walking free 20 minutes later without a clue of how they are unbanned or what they did to get unbanned. I mean, really, why can't I see how things are being handled after I've taken the effort to have them banned? This has nothing to do with privacy, it has to do with justice! (That sounds cheesy, but you know...) I honestly think that this should be changed back - I really do. The only problem with it back then was posting in reports/ban appeals, and I don't understand why they can't be changed so that only the player who created the thread can post, as well as mods/admins.
If there's a player which wants to find out who reported them they can simply click the little YouTube button on the video.
I'm neutral. I like the idea of being able to view both reports and ban appeals as a regular player, without the ability to rate/comment on them. However, like some have stated, the player that is being reported would be able to see who they've been reported by, and could harass the reporting player in-game/on forums. I am leaning more towards "no support", but good luck with this.
Welp, I get harassed in game anyway(not asking for sympathy, I don't really care) and my reports aren't see? As said by @iElric it's on YouTube most of the time. If a player is going to harass another then they can be reported for harassment - easy fix. Also, if there really is a problem, a player can create a private report by creating a convo with a mod. There's no such thing as privacy on the internet.
I believe that it would generally be best for players to see reports, In the past I have come across some corrupt mods that will let their friends off lightly as it did happen to me a few times. I was banned at least 9 times and all my bans were lifted due to me talking to close moderator friends. "Privacy "Why is it necessary for it to be private. If a player reports on the forums and gets the " Abuser "banned how are they going to harass them? There is always the mute command from the moderators and the /ignore as well as block on other social medias. Also from past experience from old servers that I used to play on the most successful ones are the ones that let the community of the server decide on what happens to offenders unless it is a major set back such as " ddos " or sending Trojans as well as hitting peoples fire walls etc. P.s - I believe that when new moderators are appointed that the players of the server should have a choice of who they would like. The moderator that has shown themselves to be worthy the most or the one with the most votes should be appointed mod.
No support this is a bad idea it should be private and should only involve staff and players directly involved. For many obvious reasons
Care to state them? I can almost guarentee anything you can come up with has been said and replied to already but please, back up what you're saying. ;)
First off, I wasn't being a jerk. He clearly only stated "no support for many obvious reasons" which quite frankly means nothing and does not help. Also, what never ends well for me? Lol? Secondly, if you look above and you're concerned about a friend who is in the wrong, yeah, you can do /hide or create a convo with a mod and no, it doesn't defeat the purpose at all considering that not everyone is going to care about that, nor will they goto the effort of doing this for all their reports. P.S. Don't call me a jerk especially when what you said was 'criticism' actually wasn't helpful.
What if Tads would just watch this thread? And see that you report him? So if he comes to reply here, you are done in any way ...
But who would try to report his friend? I mean this would be really... Idk. But you can see who was reporting you, and you could get him down, after you are unbanned again.
