Howdy folks, I've started playing on your fine server, and as a veteran of Faction servers I'd like to first off say well done on keeping the interest going. One thing I would improve though is the availability of certain items in the shop, and more specifically: Mob Spawners. Dark Room mob grinders are terribly inefficient on busy servers, especially when players aren't knowledgeable on how to contain spawns and manipulate the in game mechanics to suit their needs. A lot of factions servers I've played on over the years have addressed this issue by making hostile mob spawners available to buy. This creates a guaranteed Spawn rate that isn't affected by the surrounding conditions, and would make level 30 grinding areas more accessible to more players. Spawners are also fantastic base defenses - setting up a few skeleton spawners in armored pods around your territory is a fun way to keep intruders at bay! And an army of Zombies on demand is fairly fun to play with, if a little cumbersome. Of course, there are downsides to this - people leaving mob spawners on and amassing hundreds and hundreds of mobs will lag the server out, and the particles created when you make a cull, even more so. That said, it'd be easy enough to gate how many spawners could be active at one time by putting a large price on them - the monetary value would need to be so much higher than ordinarily available items and blocks. Based on the current shop prices, I would suggest: $150,000 - Zombie, Skeleton, Spider spawner $250,000 - Creeper, Enderman, Blaze Spawner $350,000 - Zombie Pigman Spawner If you're still here, thanks for reading, and if you have any ideas how to improve the concept please comment below. If these were implemented I suggest they also give you mcmmo. This is not op as other servers have them and this is op factions because he does not state which he could mean either remember the OP. So yea also you may also want to add Iron Golem spawner's.
Support to the Zombie/Spider/Skeleton spawners, but not the rest. Although, no mcmmo gain from spawners would have to be added, and the prices need to perhaps be more.
Well, which is it: you can find them or because there's no achievement in building a grinder? You can't get enderman spawners in the real world, nor can you get pigman, Creeper or blaze spawners. There's no achievement in building an enderman spawner as AFAIK the end is pretty much closed off to the majority of players - the only way to get there now is to tp to someone already there, which is inherently dangerous as 99% of tp's are traps. No this is for regular factions, not OP factions. Prices are of course up for debate, but based on my previous experience on factions servers with spawners for sale the price has always been around 50-75 times more expensive than diamond blocks, which are priced at $2,700 here, and 50 x $2,700 = $135,000. The price value has to reflect the difficulty of obtaining the items/blocks, and since silk touching the spawners is disabled on here (AFAIK) then they're technically impossible to obtain. You could make them hyper expensive, but considering rotten flesh doesn't sell in the shop it's a really large investment with no real monetary gains, unless you can put a price on controlled spawns. I think if you wanted to make the prices much higher then you could justify putting rotten flesh and bones in the shop as a sell option, obviously low value for large quantities - $10 per stack etc. That's the default, and why I would price them as I did. If McMMO was enabled then the value would skyrocket, probably 15-20 times what I quoted originally. I've not played on a server that allows McMMO grinding on spawners before, but that's why you build a darkroom spawner as well.
