Removal of the 'Report a staff' section

My suggestion is exactly as the title says.

Back story:

I was astonished when I saw how many reports were being made on staff members. A very small amount of these reports, were actually report-worthy, and the rest were usually a player having a go at someone who is doing their best to help the server. Take for example, the first staff report I saw: kitkat6605910 [ScoFu13] [Handled]
That was a report against a mod who had done nothing more than tempban a player, and not given evidence to the player. Which don't forget, is not required. The mod had done nothing wrong.

Throughout the entire time I was a moderator on .net, I saw (I think) five reports on staff members. I have seen three, in one day on these forums. This is defiantly not down to the mods. The quality of the mods on this server are at just a same level as they are on .net.

I for one can tell you how demoralising it is when you get reported for just doing your job. It demotivated you, and at the end of the day, (especially for the newer mods) puts them down, making their time spent on the forums, and in-game that little bit harder than it already is.

The way in which we could get rid of these false reports is by removing the section to report staff members. This would take away the temptation, and in turn hopefully reduce the amount of them. This does not take away the possibility to report them, as like I said, although very small numbers, there are some staff reports that need to be reported. If it really needs to be reported, it will either be done via the sub-server report that it corresponds to, or directly to a staff member. Publicising it is completely pointless.



On a side note, those who report staff members for just doing their job, really need to gain respect for those who make the server you clearly enjoy, playable.

The report a staff section is there for a reason, it's almost like you're saying if we removed the reports completely there wouldn't be those ones that just take up space. Yeah, it's a little bit more work, but it's tolerable.

 

Thanks for the opinion. However what I suggested is nothing like removing reports completely. As I said, when a mod gets reported falsely, for doing their job, it is extremely demoralising. As these staff reports could be done in the specific sub-server reports, if they're actually necessary, it will cut down on the huge amounts of false ones. The intent of this report was not to decrease on the work load.

No support, it's there for the case it does appear, we've had corrupt staff, and all was fixed with this, the best way to stop this, is to add an annotation in the report form that you need strong evidence of the staff violating rules/perms.

 

No support cause if one of the mods really arnet doing there job then were will you go to report them.

 

Yes, and I am not saying that remove the ability to report staff members. If you were to read the prior messages, I have stated that if a mod is needed to be reported, the report section for the specific gamemode you were in can be used. All that I am saying, is that by removing the 'Report a staff member', it would cut down on all of the stupid, meaningless staff reports, and concentrate it on the ones that really need to be looked at.

In the current state, I would argue that the single staff report that needs to be looked at, is getting lost amongst the masses of stupid reports.

 

If we to the reports staff in each individual report area, it would be a challenge for Sco and Cyp to find, forcing them to consistently be tagged, it would be far easier for the two if they had their own section in the report section.

The best way to avoid any drama, is to have that report section, or directly message Sco or Cyp, though if we message them, the mod can't entirely be sure, which could be a problem in cases where the mod did make a mistake, but not a big enough one to get demoted. Another problem with direct message, is that Cyp and Sco probably have so many, it could take some time to actually get a reply.

I still think the best way to get past this is to add the annotation in the report form. Something as small as a tiny paragraph can go quite far if you give it a try.

No support. This would lead into all the mods Being able to abuse their powers, Causing mayhem in the server.

 

You're stuck in the mindset of thinking that reports on staff should happen all the time. For example, on .net, there is less than 1 report on any mod every month. If this suggestion were to take place, the number of reports on mods would decrease, meaning you wouldn't have to worry about Sco, or Cyp being busy looking in other forums.

How many staff reports have you actually seen that have led to a demotion? I would presume none, which just nullifies your first point. The removal of this section would not 'lead to all the mods abusing their powers' as the mods we have are good, decent people. If they were going to abuse them, they could have done so the moment they got the perms. I would like to point out, for another time, that just because that section would be removed , would not stop users from being able to report mods.
