    Hello, recently I came across some people who had text formats such as Bold text, coloured text etc. How do you do this or do you need specific permissions in order to achieve this. This was on Skywars. Thanks!

    I’m not sure you’re even supposed to be able to do colour codes with /g

    Strange because there was around 5 people using /g and had bold text and some colourful text which they won't tell me how to do as well, so is it more of a permission or can anyone do it?

    Global chat was meant to be so no one can use colour codes or any of the bold, underline text etc. Although people have found out ways to bypass it and make it so they can use it, it's not a matter of having a permission to do it, it's rather bypassing the command so you can do it.

    I don't feel the need to tell you how to bypass it as I am aware of how to do it. I just don't want to see everyone on Skywars doing this when it's not supposed to be a thing in the first place; all it will do is make the chat look messy.

    Ok thank you, I'll understand that it is not suitable, however just as a quick side note, something like this Capture.PNG

    Would this mean it is warn-able to use /g and color commands?

    &&aa gets .replaced to &a

    Commenting because it's not punishable to use it. I asked Janice and she said it has always been a thing and that it essentially ended up as an "unintentional game mechanic" similar to the echest on bedwars. If people use it to spam (for example excessive or unnecessary &k or &0 usage) then it's handled as normal spam. Same applies to using it to bypass the filter.

    Code-wise this is a result of:
    - Poor regex ("&[0-9a-fi-m]" instead of "[&]+[0-9a-fi-m]")
    - A misplaced colouring method (colouring after the player's message has been put into the chat format)

    Either way closing this as this should have answered your question.
