Good evening Mineverse community, I am making this thread because I have a suggestion regarding axes on OP PvP. As of right now, the highest sharpness axe available (with kb) is s25 coming from the legendary crate. If you have any knowledge whatsoever about Minecraft PvP, then you know that a weapon (sword/axe) with the knockback enchant on it is immediately rendered as useless (to most people) because it completely hinders your ability to start and keep a combo on another player. Thus, the axe prize in all three of the crate rarity's is viewed as completely and utterly useless. I don't remember the last time I got an axe from any crate or dead body and didn't immediately chuck it on the ground, whether it be the OP axe, epic axe, or legendary axe. Coming from a decent pvper who has always had a love for axe pvp over sword pvp, it is really disappointing that my favorite server to play has the highest possible sharpness available on an axe without kb (via using a regular diamond axe and buying the s15 enchant from shop) to be fifteen where the highest sword sharpness is forty. With that being said, I suggest that the sharpness of the axes coming from all crates should be increased to be equivalent of the swords (or whatever makes axes and swords balanced), and I suggest that the knockback enchant should be removed completely from these axes ASAP. Here is why.... Coming from a player who respects and appreciates a long grind to get the best loot, implementing a new weapon that can perform well if not better (in the right hands) in pvp against a high sharpness sword immediately catches my eye. I feel as if the OP PvP portion of the server has received very little updates and changes recently which has caused a dramatic decrease in player population. Thus, with how fairly common s40 swords are and how easy they are to obtain, the addition of a new weapon that can compete on a high level would not only add a new, rare, and unique weapon to the game for players to grind for, but it also has the opportunity to make pvp more competitive and more fun, bring back past players, increase player longevity, and make the server more successful in general. The way I see it is Axes in pvp = Armor breaking faster (but doing less dmg) = Getting more kills = Me having more fun = Me no lifeing the crap out of block game. If players want to have items with far knockback enchants, you can always hit people with your knockback sticks and get yourself permed by the whole server, be my guest, but axes should not have kb, axes should be a valid option to use in pvp for those who prefer them over swords. *** After recieveing much feedback, I would suggest that in order to balance swords and axes on op so that both options are viable, axes should do a little bit more durability damage per hit than swords (without having to add mcmmo if possible), not too much where it makes axes really op, but enough where the increased dura dmg is noticeable and rewarding to a skilled player. By doing this, given that swords currently do more hp dmg per hit and can block hit unlike its axe counterpart, both the s35/s40 sword and axe would have a strong and unique feature that when in the right hands is lethal, making both weapons a viable option in PvP. **** These are my thoughts regarding axes on OP PvP. Personally, I have always preferred axes over swords in pvp, so I really hope this is something that can be implemented soon. Let me know your guys thoughts. Fully support, it will bring a new way of pvping that would be much more different and interesting than the current one, which is very repetitive since the axes that are in the game are completely useless, making us use only swords.
Support. Would be dope but Idk if axes actually make armor break faster but that if so, I feel like armor would break too fast...
Big Facts homie. I recently got a sharpness 5 axe on kit pvp and I haven't had this much fun pvping In awhile. They would just have to find some sort of balance between swords and axes so that they are both viable. Perhaps making the sharpness of axes a tad lower than swords? Maybe something else? Who knows
Support. I feel as though this would give people who prefer Axes to swords a better chance at PvP considering only swords have high sharpness (35 and 40) and to feel more privileged with their preference.
s35s and s40s are already extremely common and not hard to obtain, so I’m not sure if I agree but i respect ur opinion
I mean sure, support. You're putting yourself at a disadvantage if you're using axes (even if this gets implemented). Many people think that axes do more durability damage (in vanilla) but this is just wrong. It only does more durability damage IF there's mcmmo added. And personally I wouldn't want that to be added. Therefore, these axes will still be somewhat useless as they do less damage, but if you only can afford a legendary axe, then you still have a weapon more deadly than a 35 which I quite like.
Not a problem since there server is running on a 1.8.8 jar! As much as it is fun to knock people back with a knockback 30 stick, it is very annoying trying to pvp someone with a knockback 5 axe+.
