I never knew you at all but I could see a genuine person working for the community. So it doesn't matter what they thought, you were doing just fine. I am very sorry to hear this. I have never lost a family member but I know how devastated I would be to lose someone. Know that you have the support of many people in the community. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts <3

I am so so sorry for your loss. I've never lost a family member close to me, and I can't imagine how it feels. I can however totally understand why you would resign over this.
