My experience interacting with various forums, gaming communities, and social medias have taught me many things that should be avoided. This is why I'd like to personally share with you guys some of the DO NOT's and Do's for Minecraft, this forums, and social media in general. I can't express how cringe worthy it is seeing kids barely follow any of the basic guidelines of being a part of the "online world." I hope some of which can help such people who are new to the multiplayer setting, and or social media in general! :D Here are some of the DO NOT'S, which are things you should entirely avoid while on here: Do NOT EVER “Minecraft date.” Don't, just don't. I’ve paid heavily for doing so twice. Y'all are teenagers and children. You got 70+ years to find an actual lover. Distance relationships, at such an age especially, WON’T LAST. Sorry to spoil, but please spare yourself from unnecessary heartbreak and emotional drain. Do NOT succumb to cyber bullying! Many people let their virtual insults and attacks bother them. The block/ignore/delete buttons were made for a reason! Do not fall for their tricks. They want you upset. Do NOT share personal information with anyone!! (Address, phone #’s, etc) This is obvious, but I always see kids voluntarily sharing their info with people they think are friends. Do NOT ever send or post photos of yourself that you wouldn't want others to see! They remain online forever, and some may come back to haunt you. Do NOT treat Minecraft like it's a second religion. It's a damned video game. If it affects you negatively in someway, THERE’S SOMETHING VERY WRONG. Do NOT take everything seriously! It's fine to take some of your friends seriously, but don't take everything said online to heart! It's just a game at the end of the day. These are kids you'll more than likely ever meet in your actual life, so please relax. Do NOT prioritize Minecraft over real-world responsibilities (ex: school), family, and friends. Do NOT become involved in useless drama online. Even if it's between friends and yourself. Please, by the love of God it's all pointless and you'll get nowhere. Do NOT let bans ruin your life! It's a video game! You got banned on a video game community. It's not the end of the world, nor is it worth crying over. Do NOT be concerned over your “Minecraft reputation.” Once again, this is a game community forums - not high school! Do NOT trust everyone online, and limit sharing your personal business! Online is just like the real world, and people will screw you over if they can. Do NOT “sext” or send nudes online. This doesn't need an explanation. Just don't do it, unless you're just plain stupid. Seriously. Do NOT treat the Minecraft “staff” as gods and deity's. They're players, just like you, committing free service on a server. That doesn't make them any smarter or better than anyone, though. It's a virtual game moderator rank. Now here are a few DO's, which are things that are okay to do in the online world: Do feel free to make friends, and treat them as though they're physical friends. There are some great and real people you'll meet online, though they're very rare. Just don't be afraid to befriend folk. Do have fun. This is, as I've repeated a million times by now, a game community. It's a game. Games are supposed to be fun. Do prioritize your well being first, before others and games. I hope this thread can prove helpful for some on here, and also hope that most of you were already aware of the many DO NOT's prior to reading. :p If you're TL;DR - have fun, be safe, and don't let people online nor games affect you negatively. Quick shout out to @Pile, @coastix, @Mvdi, @menpale, @IncaMiyuki, @Janice999, @Alex, @Clxrity, and others, for indirectly inspiring me to create this thread.
There's respect, then there's acting like a god. Then again, I have no problem with being a god to the community, but ya know for others that's a bad thing.
For an apparent "god", I've never really noticed your existence lol, so might need to step it up if you're going to think you're a god to the community.
