Moderator "Cliques"?

Spoiler: Please read this before reading further

Basically, I just want to discuss what you think regarding my opinion, not to create flame wars in this thread. I personally think most Moderators have been doing a really good job, so please do not go up to a Moderator and start "scolding" them. ;)

Have you ever clicked on a Moderator's profile and seen all the pink names popping up in their profile page? Probably. Well, things like this have been coming up more often, and other incidents which I do not wish to mention since I believe some of them may be too personal.

I've also been noticing Moderators hanging out with each other a lot more, and some don't really talk to their old friends anymore after they've been promoted. This isn't exactly confirmed, and I don't know if it's true or not, but I don't think it's that normal to be waved off anymore. I understand that they "work" together, and they discuss things more often together, and thus their friendship strengthens. But it kind of seems like whenever I click on a Moderator's profile page, I don't feel that welcomed by all the pink names "flooding" their profiles.

I know most would probably feel like this is just normal and it's just something that friends do. But I don't know why, I suddenly feel like there's a quiet exclusion of per say, normal members... No, I am NOT saying that Moderators aren't friendly and that they are really horrible, but I'm just wondering if there's some cliques that's going on amongst Moderators...

To Mods, you guys/girls probably wouldn't feel like there are any cliques, but these may be too normal for you to feel that they are.

To "normal players", please don't jump to conclusion. I'm just offering an opinion and seeing what you guys think. Again, I am unsure if this is actually what's going on, but I just have a slight feeling. That's all!

It'd be great if you could offer your own opinion and just have a small, friendly discussion! Please, don't go around telling Moderators that they are exclusive. This is JUST a feeling and opinion of mine :I

I agree. I used to have a lot of friends who then got moderator and didn't hang out or talk to me that much. It's just because you're in a new group, and you work with them and know them. I wouldn't say they ignore you, but it's purely because that the moderators chat and work together, and so there are times when they work as a team.

 

I talk to lots of people, yes a fair few may be other moderators but that is usually because I am giving them help. If you want to talk to or play with a moderator then you can just message.
I do understand what you mean though.

If I'm not moderating and just playing/chilling I'll play more or less anything

 

In my opinion, I think they've been doing a great job. I've had a couple moderator friends before they got promoted, and I still talk with them on Skype a ton

 

I do notice a lot of moderator messages on other moderator's profiles.

 

I understand what you mean, but for me, even when my friends got moderator, I still talk with them a lot. They are doing a great job being friends and mods.

 

Loads of people post on my profile. Mods and regular members alike. As for cliques, I'm probably the most antisocial staff member that's existed.

EDIT: some may disagree with this but hose who honestly know me and those who have been here a long time know I almost never talk to anyone.

 

Eh i mean when you first get promoted you start to make really good bonds with fellow mods and i guess you can get into a routine of talking to them often as you can talk to them about moderator things, and just other things, Im not saying that its wrong to talk with normal players i have a few good friends that are normal players that i still talk to alot.

 

Mods talk alot and hang out because we understand each other and frustrations we have. I still talk to my friends but as for playing the game modes I played before mod, it is pretty difficult. We can't be on one game mode too long before someone gets us to go somewhere else. I try to keep my friendships and I still talk to some of my friends before mod and I have made friends along the way. Yeah we may have more of a bond, but that's what happens when you lean on someone or are apart of a strong team. I honestly don't see a moderator clique, especially since we still interact with "normal" players and still have friends with "normal" players. I can tell you, I get on teamspeak almost everyday and talk to friends I have made there. I honestly don't understand this. Wouldn't you want a strong team who is comfortable with each other and friends?

 

I understand. I agree with the Moderator side for the sense that Moderators are friends, etc., and they need to bond. I totally understand. However, I'm just saying that from a "normal player" POV, it doesn't look like that... I mean I don't think it's anything exclusive or such, and of course, it's not intentional, but I do think that maybe Mods, when promoted, could try to still keep in touch with old friends? I know some of them do, but maybe that will lessen the doubts?

Regarding your last point, of course not. It doesn't mean that having strong bonds with Moderator friends is a reason to be "excluding" per say, yourselves from the "normal players". I know it's unintentional, but... unfortunately this Moderator-player gap is really getting obvious... ; ;

Honestly, I think you are wrong. I talk to normal player and play with normal players more than I talk to the moderators. We all have friends, but that doesn't mean our friends are huge in numbers. We lose friends along the way, it happens.

 

I knew they were brainwashed. It was only a matter of time 'till we found out.

 

I don't see the point of this thread. It seems more personal than an issue with the staff team. You feeling excluded because your friend got staff would be something you could message him or her about. I mean, are you suggesting that staff don't post on other staff profiles for fear of hurting feelings? It just makes no sense.

I reply to all posts, unless they get swallowed up or lost in my spam. If you were suggesting that staff were ignoring members I could see a course of action, but honestly I just see you feeling "left out" or something and it seems like a personal issue.

 

Nope, it's not a personal thing. I was just making opinions on the constant "grouping up" of Mods on profile pages, threads, etc... Idk, I feel that it's getting slightly, just slightly doubtful.

Well the Staff team is exclusive, they don't let just anyone in. The Staff team is also sort of like a family. Everyone working together, helping each other out.

And of course normal members may feel excluded from some things, but that's only because the Staff Team do a lot of their work behind the scenes where normal players can't see, but other mods can.

If there are people who feel the same as you, just know the staff team are close and they have fun together. But that doesn't mean they despise or dislike you. I'm sure they'd like to talk and play with you once they get to know you.

 

Hey I have moderator friends and I don't feel like I'm being "waved away."
